Great e reader! I especially like the larger screen size. I like the fact that I can set my reader to reduce blue light at night and can read in bed without disturbing my spouse. Being waterproof is an added bonus.

Handy size for reading. Used to have Kobo Arc10HD but it crashed on me and Kobo does not support it anymore was nice because it was in colour like a tablet. But for reading eBooks this is OK and nice size Had some problem after programming it and reading the book I was reading, called Kobo and they helped me to resolve the problem. Sure like it, it is small enough like a paperback book

  • Almost Perfect

I bought this for traveling and because as a senior, my eyes fatigue easily reading in the evening. I am very happy with it. I borrow books from the library and am pleased to be going away with a lightweight screen loaded with a dozen books. I got the Forma because of my "old eyes" and find reading easy with the adjustments possible. I do think the 8" screen was worth the extra $$ in my case. Set up and learning to navigate and borrow books took some getting used to, but is easy now. I find the on / off button slow and difficult. I will be unsubscribing from Koboos very frequent attempts to sell me books.

  • Serving my expectations well ...

from Southern Ontario on December 26, 2019

The Koba Forma 8" is serving my expectations well for an eBook reader of this size. Because of it, I have rediscovered the joy of reading books. It is certainly more convenient that lugging books around and the backlit screen is versatile to basically read anywhere at anytime with and without light. The battery life is very acceptable for me (weeks when used daily). A negative so far: Certain PDFs files with pages that have much black graphics and scan lines running left to right appear to challenge the Forma in terms of rendering. It takes quite a long time to refresh, and some pages crash the Forma causing it to reboot. Fortunately, Kobo is aware of this and is supposedly looking into the problem.

  • It's okay

from Vancouver on November 29, 2019

I only got this this week, but I felt I would leave a review with some initial thoughts. The screen is great and easy to read, but I have a couple problems with the hardware. The power button on the side is really squishy, I never know if I've pressed it enough to do anything, and the usb charging port is low quality, it takes a tremendous amount of force to remove the cable after I'm done charging. A more neutral point is that bigger isn't always better. I read a lot lying on my side, and the screen for this has gotten big enough that it's not easy to do that with one hand.

  • Best ebook reader I owned.

The 8 inch screen gives you the possibility to enjoy anime and PDF files, which I I never did with my kindle. The screen light also is great. After 4 weeks Nothing bothered me yet.

  • Kobo Forma

I purchased a Kobo Forma last week. I really like the larger screen along with it being thinner and lighter. I also like the way the back light changes with the time so its easier on your eyes reading at night. I would recommend it to anyone! I am passing my olderr Kobo to a friend as its still the best before I got the Forma.

  • Bad Screen

    from  on October 12, 2019

Bad Battery,Terrible Form Factor,I am a huge fan of the Aura One,and truly wanted to like the new Forma, but it's really an ill-advised piece of hardware. To start, this design is due to a popular marketing push of "listen to the vocal minority rather than the satisfied majority",whereby a huge plastic bezel has added with some squeaky plastic buttons. It makes the unit bigger, uglier, thicker, and heavier than previous tablet/phone-based eReaders. Plus,it's moving eReader technology back in time, not forward, and it kinda looks like a sheap kid's toy. Secondly, the battery life is absolutely horrible. On my Aura H20 and One I can get about a month of nightly use,but I'm lucky if I can get a week out of the new Forma, and most times it's 4-5 days. This is insanely-bad battery life for an expensive eReader and is even worse than old color tablets that I've owned for years. Finally, the screen is very disappointing and it has extremely noticeable banding and backlight bleeding - some parts are washed out, others have starburst effects, and many edges have bright banding. I have a feeling some of it is due to the new "monster bezel + buttons" as there is bright band on mine, right next to these "new features". I can only hope Kobo wakes up and starts producing current,tablet-based eReaders again,as these old school monstrosities may satisfy the seniors who have complained about the lack of buttons (since they were removed decades ago),but this big, heavy, thick, and power-hungry old-school design is alienating your existing customer base.

  • The battery life sucks

from victoria bc on July 25, 2019

i have had other kobos with back lights before. I would read 4 to 8 hrs a day and they would last minimum 4 weeks on a full charge. The Forma what a joke two days at the most. at the end of and 8-9 hrs of reading it would have to be charged. I love everything else about it. nice size extra room to be able to hold it, light . to bad very disappointed. I returned one thinking it was a dude replaced it with another one. both were the same.

  • Excellent. Highly recommend.

I have had the Forma for 26 books. This is the best e-reader I have ever used. Easy to hold and read with one hand. Light, ergonomic. Battery life is excellent. Wifi is quick. Will be picking one up for my wife this week,
