Love it a lot

I love this device. I love the waterproofness and the warmer backlight. It's thin and light. I read this in the tub and pool. The software is a little clunky and it can be a bit of a pain to highlight passages, but this is outweighed by the features. I have had no issues with the battery, but I keep wifi off when I don't need to sync. I also think the overdrive borrowing digital books from the library should be awesome, although I haven't had time to try it yet. I also bought an aftermarket case which I think is much better than the OEM case. I actually bought the OEM case but returned it for the cheaper better MoKo Premium case.

Caution: doesn't work on modern wifi

I just spent over 2 hours trying to set this unit up, only to find out from Kobo tech support that none of their units work on 5G wifi. Kobo customer service has no idea when they will introduce new technology, but says "they are working on it". I spent the extra money for the Aura One for the access to Overdrive. This unit is useless for travel as I can't control the wifi that is available. I am off to return it and buy an iPad mini.

Kobo Aura One

I was very excited to purchase this ereader, after reading the details and specs saying it had a headphone jack plug in. However, before you buy, be warned that this does not have a headphone jack plug in. The details and specs have been incorrectly input. Therefore, there is no option to be able to hear audio books on it. Very disappointing, since I would have probably opted for the cheaper version the Aura H20 and saved myself some money.

Excellent Update

I recently updated a five year kobo aura 6” and I am very glad that I did! The device is faster, more lighting options, larger screen, less flipping pages and the ability to use libraries. At times it takes two swipes to turn a page, but mostly quite responsive. As long as wi if off is turned off, I find the battery to be fine.

This is the most difficult to use e-reader I have had. I started with the Sony years ago, when they discontinued their purchase library I got a Kobo Arc. I was happy with both of these e-readers. After a couple of cornea transplants I thought it would be a good idea to get an e-reader that was front lit, so I bought the Kobo Aura One. Big mistake. The directions are hard to follow and sometimes what the instructions tell you to do just doesn't work. The screen starts flashing from black to white every little while. I can't search for specific authors or titles on Overdrive on the Aura One, I have to borrow books on my Kobo Arc Overdrive account and then sync everything, some books from the public library won't sync. The ones that do sync are all mixed in with my purchased books from Kobo. I'm back to using my Kobo Arc most of the time. This was a waste of money. Save your money and look further, surely you can find something better than this..

Great Size

Generally like everything about the device but it is really the size of the screen that makes it great. There isn't really an alternative device for this screen size and I can't handle anything smaller.

Love It

I just got my Kobo Aura One 3 weeks ago. With a little help I learned how to use it The only problem I have is waiting in line at the library for books to become available..

Poor Customer Service and defect product

The new Kobo (software) has issues adding libary books. The customer service team acts like the have never heard of this issue yet there numerous forms online about everyone having the same problem. Kobo just released a software update with a bug in it that makes your Kobo not work. The support team is not able to provide any feedback as to when this will be fixed. I do not suggest buying a product like this that is prone to problems and has a horrible customer support team.

No custmer services

Please don't buy any kobo ereader devices. Their customer services suck. I made 7 phone calls. Three of them hang up my call due to bad signals. Three of them just told me to try to reboot the device. Only one person understand my question whether a broken-screeen kobo can be fixed. The answer is hell no. They did not offer any kinds of hardware repairment. The only solution is to buy a new one. GO TO BUY KINDLE to save your life.

Kobo Aura One

The increase in size adds more reading per page and the response time is better than my Aura HD . It has a good feel to it and I have not had a problem with battery life.

terrible language and dictionary support

1)natural light is not even, built quality is low for backlight LED array. 2)language and dictionary support is very poor. 3)firmware is buggy.

Almost Love it

Has all the features that I wanted in an e-reader. Had an original Kobo and can't believe what has improved. Large size, low weight, adjusting light, waterproof, adjusts font from book to book and many more. My only problem is battery life. I have complained already as they guarantee 1 month of life but I get 3 or 4 days. If this is solved then they get the last star.

Very happy

I'm very happy with the Kobo Aura ONE. I was debating between Kindle and Kobo e-readers for a few months and I'm happy with my choice to buy an Aura ONE. Since Overdrive is integrated into the device (unlike other ereaders currently on the market), borrowing from the public library is extremely easy. The screen size makes reading more practical than smaller devices; it's nice to see more text when you are reading (less page flipping also). The ability to change the lighting from white to yellow is a nice feature. The integration with Pocket is also very convenient.

Thank You Kobo

Finally purchased the Kobo Aura One after having a Kobo Glo for years. I am impressed with this new E-reader, the lighting is awesome and very easy on the eyes. I am finding the battery life is very good as well. The ease of downloading books from public library and Kobo sight is exceptional and seamless. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

Kobo Aura One

I really like my Kobo Aura one as it is very easy to read and the light is very good. you can adjust the font which makes it an easy read. It is slim and very easy to hold.

Very good reader, but with limitations.

The technology of this reader is excellent, particularly when obtaining books from the library. The print is very good and the added size of the reader makes it enjoyable to read. The weight is excellent. However, the battery does not measure uo to the claim it lasts a month before recharging. Perhaps if you read 20 minutes a day. If yiu read 3-4 hours per day like I do, expect to recharge after 3-4 days.

I love this Kobo, it is the best one out there. It is very light, like a piece of paper, the page turning is instantaneous, the auto light is really helpful, I can read in the most crappy lighting and have no problem with seeing the words. It holds a ton of books, and the built-in dictionary is amazing and very helpful. I also like the size of the screen, it is about the size of a paperback or small hardcover book. I was hesitant because of the price, it is a bit steep for an e-reader, but someone bought me one, and I was glad they did, I would be lost without it. If you can afford this, then buy it, you won't regret it.

great screen size but battery drain unacceptable

We changed from the smaller screened e-reader to a kobo aura. Love the larger screen. The battery life, however, is really unacceptable. After 4 hours of reading you'll probably need to recharge it. This problem is well known, we found out about this on line after purchasing them. Until this batter drain problem is resolved, I would not recommend this product

Finally a Kobo that's the right size

I'm a big fan e-reading on e-ink displays. Having a larger screen with a back light and control of the color temperature makes the reading experience so much easier. With the light on, you won't get the "1 month" on a single charge that the literature promises, more like 1 week, which is fine. The Pocket integration is a nice bonus for someone like me who uses the service almost daily to store news articles and other things to read later on.

Best ever

Love the larger screen and the variable lighting options. Lighter than my old kobo reader. Print is easy on the eyes.

I'm sure it's Great !

It turned out it was not the tablet for me, no camera, no color, we returned it.

Simply..The Best E-Reader Ever Made!

I've owned alot of Kobo e-readers in the past.. I've also owned most Kindle's including the Voyage. Without a doubt the Kobo Aura One is everything you want and didn't know you needed in an E-Reader!. It's fast, sexy and incredibly powerful tool that any bookworm or causual reader will enjoy. Just get it!

  • from Barrie, ON

Cool new features

Its definitely faster and crisper lettering not nearly as much delay. I love The blue light filter and the size. But the battery says it lasts a month it barely lasts 2days not sure why my old kobo lasted forever. So that's kinda a pain but I don't regret it.

Don't buy at bestbuy

My kobo cratered within the year. I tried to take it back to bestbuy. Unfortunately I didn't keep my receipt and paid cash. I had the box so they knew I had bought it there. The worker tried to help - 5 stars to him - by trying to find my transaction but later I remembered because of special circumstance I had paid cash. Therefore they would do nothing. I have 2 recommendations: 1. Buy the kobo from Chapters - I took mine there and they helped me out and I have a new kobo. 2. Don't pay cash to buy anything as it is untraceable.

Amazing Screen

I have tried several eReaders and tablets over the years for reading and the screen resolution on this device is amazing. While it might seem like this resolution gets lost in eInk and some may say its unnecessary/overkill, I disagree... it definitely doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. Making reading much easier on your eyes. The subtle back light is also doesn't cause any eye strain. The larger size doesn't come accompanied by a bunch of extra weight either, so you don't get tired holding it like you might with larger tablets. I highly recommend this device.

Poor Software and Screen Hardware for Highlights

Used Kobo Aura ONE for about four days before returning it. The screen size is great and night mode reading is very useful. However: - Software is buggy. Usual for Kobo. - Highlighting text is frustrating. Back to Kindle.
