Loud fan, super slow

The moment I turn this laptop on, a Noisy Fan just keeps blowing..even when idle. I also found the system to be very slow in spite of the purported 8G RAM.

Very loud fan

I just bought this laptop and it has a very loud fan. It's sitting next to me just charging and the fan is super loud. Plus the fan goes really loud, then soft, then medium, then really loud with no rhyme or reason. I'm not even touching it. I can't stand the sound. My current laptop, which I'm writing this review on, is humming away quietly with basically zero sound. I'm stumped, why all the crazy fan noises? The mouse pad is also hard to use and jumps around with minimal touch.

overall decent but has some challenges

I bought this quickly as my Toshiba after 5 years was slow and needs love. It works great as a workhorse, though I have some challenges. The battery charging continually will give me the screen brightness I need, otherwise its too dark for me. The volume is not very high at 100%, so if I'm in a somewhat noisy place I have to use headphones. So as for their crispness at any volume, well its pretty low. I don't use the battery on its own as its only 2 hrs and since I cannot see in the dimness of the standard default that you cannot change, I am not bothered. Works well (but not liking windows 10 which is not the computers doing :) ). Over all its fast, can do my work well and the wifi works great. I really want a Toshiba next time when I can afford it. As with that I can have the brightness at its best with or without it plugedin and I'm happy. It too had the same challenges with the volume, but well they are not sound systems.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 320 15.6" Laptop is excellent as the feel of the key pad as it feel soft and easy to type with. The touch pad mouse is easy to slide your finger on. The programs load fast and the screen has good resolution. Like that the fan runs quiet. Dislike the quality of the webcam it could be a lot clearer. Overall an excellent product.

DESPISE this laptop with a PASSION

I bought this laptop at best buy over a year ago. i hate it so much i want to review it everywhere, to shout it from the rooftops. i want to smash it into a million pieces. i've had it. the last two laptops i had were toshiba satellites and i liked those so much more. somehow the mouse pad is finicky. the setting box(?) (when you right click) CONSTANTLY comes up if you press almost anywhere on the mousepad it seems, when you are trying to move the cursor or do anything else. also the start menu constantly pops-up and i can't figure out what it is that i am supposedly doing that causes it. i hate this thing so much. lenovo...never again!

For. The price it'll. Do. Anything I need, and delivered to my door, makes. For a good cheap school computer that'll last and a new laptop for just over a Hu Fred a year for schooling, I can't complain

  • from Saint-laurent, QC

Good price-quality relation (bought it at a 500$CAD sale though)

Pros: -Sleek and stylish design, thin -Good weight: For a 15.6'' laptop it is light weight too -Love the keyboard, sometimes with laptops as soon as you touch the keys you can feel the hard cheap plastic they are made of but this laptop has such soft and nice Apple-like keys -The number keyboard on the right side was a must for me, so I love that -USB ports, HDMI port and CD door (although I'm sure I will never use the latter) -Very much similar to these models and cheaper 80XS0024US / 80XS00DJUS Cons: -Too noisy. For a new laptop, the fan is unbelievably noisy. I had read this in other reviews so I kind of expected it, they were right. -Battery life. I cant believe it has such poor battery life. That was a surprise for me, ive never had a laptop with such poor battery life -I really don't get why it has this thing called "Tablet Mode" if its not touchscreen

bang for the buck

cheapest amd 12 chip with decent specs. expect some downsides which are liveable (batter@1+ hr, subpar audio). next best thing could be dell's ryzen 5 which gives better processing power but at an extra 100++. on sale its a steal. got it at 449. (less250). at this price range, you won't get anything with similar specs. lenovo is known too for durability and longevity.

Good Value

Purchased it about a month ago. Used only for internet searches, email, watching dvd. At this point it is fairly fast and convenient to use. Like the touchpad options for scrolling and zooming. Would recommend.

Windows 10 clogging up the sysytem again

I bought this laptop 1 month ago, out of the box is slow,(and did crash) 159 processes running in backround. After getting it down to 86 processes running, is a lot faster and has not crashed to date. Main problem i found with this laptop is the 4 gig of ram (system) with 4 gig of GPU(shared) ram that can not be changed.

Lenovo Junk

Worst computer I have ever used and I have bought cheaper computers than this one in the past. The specs look good for the sales price but man, what a headache to use from day one. It is the slowest and most frustrating computer to use, I did a full reset to start from scratch again and still no better. I have used this computer a whole 4 times and now gave up because it takes 30 mins just to boot up and open something every single time. I have even removed all bloatware, apps and programs that I won't use and and ran a full virus/malware scan and the computer is still unresponsive and slow like you wouldn't believe. It has constant black screens, freezes, programs close for no reason and won't open when clicking to open. It is my first Lenovo and my last and also my first AMD and my last, Intel all the way!!!

Basic laptop - gets the job done?

I'm giving this laptop 3/5 stars. It's able to browse quickly, it's easy to use. Sleek design. The battery life is horrible. It's very minimal lasting and definitely does not last as long as the manufacturer promises. I bought it 7 days ago (roughly) and I have already had issues with the keyboard not working so I may bring it back if this continues. Not sure if I'd recommend.

Hands down the worst speakers in the world. Sound was so low l couldn't hear a word people were saying on netflix, on hard surface as well. The volume is at 100%. Immediately taking it back on this issue alone. Also it stopped buffering 25% into a music video on youtube and l have premium internet. Could barely hear a Rob Zombie song if l took a few steps away. Embarrassing speakers. I'm not buying speakers for the jack output or bluetooth speakers l'm just very frustrated with this so l will get my refund

Slow and very poor pic quality

Bought it the other day , returned next day. Low quality stuff

  • from Vancouver, BC

It is okay

I was hoping this would be a great laptop for general day to day work but unfortunately, within my first week, I encountered several unexpected issues: 1) because of the bilingual keyboard, the enter button is half the size it used to be. I kept constantly hitting \\ instead of enter. Personally, I am just not used to a bilingual keyboard. 2) sound issues - no matter how I adjust the sound, it still comes with some static noise. 3) load up screen is a bit slow - everytime I put the computer to sleep and start it up again, it takes a while. Unfortunately I will be returning the laptop and opt for something with a keyboard more suitable for me.

Poor picture quality

Bought it today but will return it tomorrow , jerry-made stuff .

Great Laptop for the Price

Great laptop! Runs my videos and games seamlessly. Keyboard is good, only downside is it has the half left shift key rather than the full key. Overall great machine for the price.

going back

bought this computer on Wed this week, didnt have the time to set up until Sat, its going back...took a quick look at Netflix and the picture was so blurry I would have gotten a headache spending anytime watching a program...set up was pretty simple but I spend a lot of time on Netflix, so its going back

I'm a student and the computer is good for myusage

Pretty decent

Pretty decent, cheap laptop. It does what I need. I don't game so I can't speak to how it handles those tasks. I can say that I installed both ubuntu and arch linux with 0 difficulty and everything just worked. The only real con I can find with this system is that the battery life is far below what the manufacturer lists. Mine is usually dead in two hours.

No good

Biggest waste of money ever.

So far pretty good

I haven't used it much yet, but so far it's working pretty well. It's quick and responsive with minimal lag with multitasking and in spite of what some other reviews said, I didn't have a problem with fan volume. but that being said I still have some nitpicks. It can be a bit of a pain when it comes to things that might require the arrow keys, but I figured out how to use the num pad for that. The end and home buttons don't do what they're supposed to do, but that might just me not knowing how to make them do what I need (as they share space with arrow keys). The touchpad is totally useless if you want to do anything involving scrolling, so I had to get a proper mouse. It only has two USB slots, which for me personally is a problem since one slot is used by my mouse and the other is for my headset dongle. Fortunately it also has a USB-C slot, so buying an attachment to give me all the slots I need is simple. Annoying, but can be worked around. Overall though, it does pretty well.

  • from Calgary, AB

uncertain/not thrilled

- fan is loud (can be bothersome if online video sound is not hq) - battery drains fast (barely 1.20 hrs) and takes a long time to charge - battery is not easily accessible (can't replace it yourself ... unless you're a geek) - seemed rather slow from the start (before installing software or docs) - speakers on the bottom side of the laptop !?!

Great Spec for Spec Value

Performs well for the price. Can't find a comparable specd A12 laptop at this price. Perfect for the kids and browsing. Great design as well. Over all very satisfied for a budget laptop.

  • from Moncton NB

great value for its price, but a few negatives

I just got this laptop last week and mostly I am very happy with my purchase. Its quick, lite, thin and visually pleasing, I don't plan any "heavy gaming" on it but for what I will use it on I expect it to work just fine. However, there are 3 issues I do have with it. 1. The fan is crazy loud. similar to traveling down a highway and you think a window is open a crack..seriously....I feel cold when listening to it 2. Windows 10 is having a problem where it will not install the latest security updates. I know this is a software issues but it was pre-installed so my expectations are that it should work. 3. The screen is not very bright. I am comfortable viewing it but have it cranked all the way up to do so.

Good laptop

Bought it for my parents. It is ok except the fan noise. Much louder than their 7 year old laptop and it is on every minutes. If you are looking for quiet laptop this is not for you. Overall it is good budget friendly laptop.

Nice Laptop But didn't like the Matt Screen

I originally bought this laptop and loved almost everything about it. THe only drawback for me was the matted Screen. I love looking at pictures so this really was not a good feature. I did return it and Purchase a Dell that was selling at the same price. I do love my new screen on this laptop. Some people may like the matt screen but for me it wasn't what I liked. Besides that though it was a nice laptop. Very Light Stream line and nice keyboard.

Slow computer. Poor Best Buy customer service

I bought this for a specific work purpose (it needed a Windows OS) and so I needed a basic computer without frills. What dissapointed me the most was that this computer takes at least 4 minutes to start up each time. Very slow especially when I am used to quick Mac startups. The screen resolution isn't the best and I returned it after a couple of uses as it did not meet my requirements and expectations. I have bought many computers and have never bought a protection plan before but the sales person was very good at what his job and I fell for it this time. Never will I buy a Bestbuy/Geeksquad Protection plan again. When they try to sell it to you, they don't give you all the details, they scan through it quickly and tell you the nice bits e.g. "service for all your other computers at home will be included as well" etc. but after payment and looking through what the plan actually covers, it's free and included only if they can help you remotely online. If you bring it in to the store, you get a 50% discount on the service. A gross misrepresentation of what was initially said when they try to sell it to you. When I returned the laptop, I asked for the protection plan to be cancelled. I was told at the store to go to the Geeksquad counter and they will help me cancel it. I go there and the guy said I have to call the Geeksquad number to do it. I call them there and then at the store and the agent at the other end said they cannot do it and it has to be done at the store. The guy at the store insisted that they cannot do it. Bottom line it got brought to a manager and he said he will call them and sort it out and I need not worry about it. I call Geeksquad a few days later just to check because I was sure nothing had been done yet and true enough, it hasn't. The agent again told me I have to go back to the store as only they can cancel it within the first 30 days! My advice- don't buy the Protection Plan except for very specific rare circumstances. Very poor customer service and this experience has certainly put me off Best Buy.

Fun laptop

Great laptop for school. I bought it for school and people notice it! I've been asked by several people if they can try it out for online browsing and they liked it. I've had positive comments about this laptop.

Pink Screen

Received this today and screen was filled with lines making it unreadable. I rebooted and it came on but all the white is pink. Returning to the store in hope that this is a glitch - will review new one later. Pain in the neck returning!!!

Great Budget laptop!!

It's a great laptop overall. Slow at first during set up, but once all configured and ready to go the system is great. I use it for work, school, music and some gaming. Haven't had any issues. Also connects effortlessly to my wireless printer and Bluetooth devices. Great laptop for students on a budget!
