great value

This tablet works just fine, I have no idea why others claim it is slow. Both apps and streaming movies run perfectly. Battery life is good, and the screen res is also fine. For the price it is an absolute steel and a perfect kids tablet

Soooooooo slooooow

My 6 years old ipad 2 is way faster than this. You get older while waiting to open a simple app. It looks ok but no horse power at all. Stay away from it.

I got this for my kids and OMG this has to be the slowest tablet they have ever used. The dam thing restarts a lot, like 10 times a day.. Tablets like this gives android a bad name. what every you do stay away from this tablet.

Great dash camera and GPS head unit

As the Lenovo Tab3 Essential came with GPS, I bought it on sale with the intent of using Google Maps on it, only to discover it had the potential to do so much more. Upon installing Android Auto and AutoGuard or another head-unit app onto the tablet, and mounting it to the base of my windshield in landscape orientation, this tablet doubles (triples?) as a dashcam, GPS, and head unit, all voice-controlled via "OK Google". (Calls can be made via SIP, Google Hangouts, Google Voice, Viber, TextNow, or a number of other apps that can be downloaded)

DO NOT BUY Lenovo Tab3 Essential 7"

Cheap product and experience, avoid this product notwithstanding its price. It would not update, terrible wifi connection, uber-slow. Completely died after 4 months of use, it is not powering up at all.... tried every possible restart option. In fact, I will never buy LENOVO product again.

The battery dies really fast and takes forever to charge. I would not buy this brand again. I'll stick to the Samsung.

bad screen resolution but decent otherewise

I went and bout this when it was on sale and found that for the price, and it's "age" it was a fairly well devised tablet if your only looking to do casual gaming, streaming or reading. The only complaint I have about it is that the screen resolution is horrible. the text for app names are blurry and the screen overall was not well made, and sometimes it didn't respond to some taps when tapping fast and repeatedly, which is important to consider depending on what you're going to do with the tablet. overall bad screen decent for it's price range

Great buget tablet

I bought two of these tablets as gifts for my little girls 3y/o and they LOVE it!!! I am the kind of guy that either buys the highest end product or if im not going for highest end then i am looking for best value for price and this tablet hit that mark beyond my expectations... i had these tablets for 3 days before giving them to my daughters and i didnt feel like i need more power, or that its slow, or that the picture quality was lacking, i was in fact impressed and quite pleased when i took them home and was installing programs and games and transferring media to the tablets of just how quick the tablet was. the tablets were on sale about 35% off its regular price. if the tablets were not on sale i probably wouldnt have bought them as my first impressions of the device was that it was a lower end product than what i was looking for, but now that i have had experience with them i know that even if i paid regular price, i would have been just as happy with my purchase as i am now. I intended on just buying these tablets to tie them over until i can buy more premium tablets, but now i dont think so, im going to hold off until these tablets die (which will probably be soon anyway, they are used CONSTANTLY) i cant express how much my little girls just love their tablets :)

If you want to store files on a tablet don't bother with this one

I went looking to access a file I transferred to this device and info I found online said to access the file manager which didn't exist. I contacted support and all they could suggest was to download a file manager app from the Play Store. The app they recommended had advertising on it. I would have been happy with a file manager app that I had to pay for to have one without advertising. This is going back to Best Buy immediately because this product was not a "best buy".

Pure Garbage, Both Product and Service. ZERO STARS

I bought two of these a Christmas presents, and within 3 months, one had completely died, and the other is on it's way out (not charging properly, max of 55% battery life). I wasn't expecting great performance out of these, but having a product continue TO TURN ON after a few uses is not an unreasonable expectation. Bear in mind these tablets have been used approximately 12 times each in these past 3 months, so not a lot. The icing on the cake, I went to the Best Buy where I bought them (Store #617, Stockyards Toronto) and the person behind the customer service desk actually laughed in my face when I asked if they were able to assist me. Classy customer service, if you ask me. "14 days, then you have to deal with the manufacturer" My biggest question is why Best Buy sells products they are not willing to stand behind. I things in my fridge older than these tablets that are still edible. These are pure rubbish, and the interaction from Best Buy was as well.

Works great and my kid loves it.

Great quality Lenovo tablet

As always Lenovo has made a practical tablet. Screen sharpness and resolution, sound quality and speed is great. Touch screen is responsive, feel of the tablet is very nice when you hold it unlike some other tablets that I had before. 5 star

Can't Recommend

Initially I thought it was great. Nice screen, really good GPS, good price, but I eventually found out why it was a bad buy. You have to turn it off rather than put it in standby or the battery is done in a day or two. I turned everything off and deleted everything I could think of that would be sucking the battery but it still sucked the battery down in standby. It even says it in the battery usage that the "standby" is the majority consumer. Very disappointed with it but by the time I figure it out it was too late to return it. Buy a better brand.

my score: 9/10

I bought this tablet mainly for reading Kindle ebooks and reading magazines. I loaded about 20 various magazines. I am very pleased with how it works which means that I am satisfied. I will go one further with saying ''extremely satisfied''. LENOVO is a serious company which carries the label ''trustworthy'' that is why I bought the Lenovo tablet and not some other kind. Price was also an issue for me and I found it very reasonably pricedat Best Buy. Would buy another Lenovo product if the need arises. Carolanne

Review of Lenovo Tab 3/ 4 stars

Very pleased with this product, not a single issue had've arisen since purchased for a gift for my father. I am also very very pleased by how quickly and efficiently I was assisted at the Abbotsford store, even when the original product was sold out. I just want to give my sincere thanks to all the staff at Bestbuy, and I will most definitely be doing all my other shopping of electronics etc., at your store. Thank you for time and consideration, Sincerely, Sarah M Clegg

Nice tab for the kids

Bought this for my two boys - works great for them to play games and access web based school resources for homework. Its simple and does the trick. The size is perfect for their small hands.

Just an awful tablet

It's Lenovo, so I get it. The processor will be slower, the speed will be slower, the camera quality will be bad and much more. I was given this as a gift and this is the only reason I have it. However, the battery dies REALLY quick, it charges EXTREMELY slow, and the speed of ANYTHING is slower than anything I can describe, just to name a few of the many issues. The camera quality is horrible, the storage is something of the past (only 8GB? Really? At least you can add storage!), and I could go on and on about the slow speeds! By slow speed, I am of course referring to not only the processor speed, but the ability to run more than 1 app at a time. On top of that, texting and touches are slow, and where my wifi is fast on all my other devices (iPod 4th Generation, iPhone 5s, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and 2 laptops) however for some reason, web surfing speed, download speed, and upload speed as well as online games are extremely slow. Maybe it's just MY device, however it is a Lenovo tablet so I would only assume this is ALL Tab3 devices. As for the Pros: The wallpaper looks nice as does the back of the device. That's pretty much it. High recommended... that you buy ANYTHING else, just don't waste your money on tablet.

Tablet without file manager...

This tablet is without File Manager and if u are using the USB or memory card, you cannot see or use it until third party software is installed which seems very poor strategy from vendor

  • from Calgary, AB

very good looking tablet. just got it. spec seem ok except the storage of 8gb. usually at the level , most of the tablets are 16 gb.

great gift

I got this tablet as a black Friday sale. Awesome tablet for the size and price. Lenovo is a great company so I know that it won't fall apart or break too easily. This made a great birthday gift. I won the prize for best gift :p The sound quality is decent for something so small too.

  • from Langley, BC

Excellent product for the price.

I haven't had the battery issues that other reviewers have. (Actually, with the problems that Samsung has had with its batteries, a slighter weaker battery was a selling point for me. And I have found that this tablet doesn't overheat during recharge. I've also found that it recharges fast enough for my needs - about 2 hours.) The only issue I have with it - and it's a minor one for me - is that the touch screen isn't as responsive as I'd like at times, but as I use it mostly for reading online or ebooks, that, also, has not been a big issue. I you want a basic tablet, then I highly recommend it.

Fairly slow and battery drain is quick

I had bought this because my dad had a Samsung tablet and it ended up crapping out so I went with Lenovo. First time buying it I noticed that the battery drains very fast also noticed with an app that I play it's very slow loading and doesn't come with very much memory but overall it's a tablet and works as such

Excellent Tablet

This little tablet is amazing if setup properly. I basically you this tablet for TV an Movies while on the go. The only issue I found with it is, it would not read most 64 gig micro SD cards. (Solution found is it does not read the exfat format. download a partition manager and reformat in fat 32 and they work perfect) Otherwise great product. I have been using Lenovo computers for about a year at work and they all work great.

great tablet for the price easy to use.

The battery dies fast

This is the worst battery I've ever seen in a device. The battery last approximately 6 hours (My little boy uses this tablet for Youtube Netflix etc). But we're talking about a fresh new battery, it should take last. I have a 4 years old iPad2 whose battery last longer than this Lenovo battery and I've never changed the battery on this iPad before. I am a little bit disappointed with this battery. So, the tablet is fine, Android runs good on it. The tablet is light and with easy handling. My boy forgot the iPad and started using this Lenovo (I think is because is light and have a good handling). I think it could have a home buttom like iPad, but that's my opinion. In an overall it's a good device, whose price worth. Best Buy delivered it in the next day of purshase!

  • from Markham, ON

Unfortunately had to return this. There was an issue where the battery suddenly drops from 70% to zero. Upon doing some research on the Lenovo forum, I found that this was not an isolated case. There is something possibly in the firmware that suddenly discharges the battery.

Perfect budget tablet

Currently have the following tablets: iPad Air2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 I got this mini tablet to use in bed because my other tablets were too big. It works great, does everything that I use my other tablets for which is Netflix, surfing, Facebook, gaming. Purchased the Samsung Tab E at first but the screen was so blurry it gave me a headache. This is much better and comparable to my other devices.

Good, affordable tablet for a child

I bought this as a replacement for my daughter when it was on sale for 79.99. It's perfectly adequate for a 7-10 year old child. It easily plays every game she had on her previous, higher-end Android tablet and the battery life is even better. She likes the 7" form factor even better than the 8" tablet she had before.

Excellent Tablet

I bough this tablet for reading, watching Netflix, and checking email. This is the perfect device for doing all of those tasks without issue. However, watching Netflix drains the battery very quickly, especially on high brightness. While reading and checking email I only needed to charge the tablet once every couple of days.

Great Little Tablet

This tab runs well for 1gig of ram. The resolution is decent and overall good design.

Great Tablet for the price.

For the price, it beats any other tablet out there.

Great little tablet for the price

When this is on sale it is a great little Android tablet. If you have kids that just like to play some games, watch movies/Youtube this is perfect. Funny enough, they like this smaller one over the larger iPad. Don't need to spend a small fortune on an iPad mini. Granted the display and sound aren't as good, but we got it for [price] on sale and it's a perfect secondary device. Plus if it breaks I won't cry.

Dead Pixels

Bought one of these in the morning. It had a dead pixel. Returned it in the afternoon for an exchange. This one has 2 dead pixels. I can't stand dead pixels. I'm sure this is a great tablet for the price, but what a hassle.

Great tablet for the money

Great little tablet running Android 5.1. Don't be discouraged by only 8GB storage, you can easily pop in a micro-SD card and expand to 64GB external. Has built-in option to move apps out to SD card to preserve internal storage. Out of Box, after first SW upgrade completed, only had about 4.5GB of internal storage available, the rest was occupied by System and default Android apps. So you will definitely need SD card. Not all apps can be moved to external SD. Resolution is only 1024 but screen still looks good. In fact, overall brightness of screen is noticeably better than my other Dell tablet. Front camera resolution is poor and grainy but works well in low light conditions. Great for kids playing minecraft and other Android apps. Battery life is probably around 5-6 hours if being played constantly. At this price, you won't be upset if / when your kid drops it and smashes the screen.

love it

I do miss a written user guide I find it cumbersome to look through the online guide......I think an included quick guide would help with the learning curve. I find it is a little slow in starting up but is the only slow part it is quick once it starts. The graphics are sharp and I am pleased with my Lenovo Tab 3 .......I will say the battery life does not seem as long as described though I do find they rarely are.

Processor Information

Overall, this tablet is cost-effective. The only issue I have is that it is advertised as having a "QualComm Quad-Core Processor". This is not true, the processor is a Mediatek 1.3 GHz quad core processor. I specifically bought this tablet because it was advertised as having a Qualcomm processor.

Lenovo Tab 3 Essential 7

From Lenovo's website, this new Tab 3 Essential 7's weight is 0.66lbs or 300g, not 260g as mentioned here on BestBuy's site.
