Save Your Money!

This is a terrible TV. I have had nothing but problems with it. First issue started with "flash lighting" which looks like someone is holding a flashlight under the screen during dark scenes. I played with every setting and couldn't change this. Eventually called LG Warranty and they replaced the entire screen (panel). Issue still persisted after the screen replacement. I finally discovered on a forum that there is a setting called "Local Dimming" that is turned on which causes this. Turn it off and no more problem. Why would this be automatically turned on and why LG Warranty couldn't diagnose this is beyond me. Super frustrating. With that issue resolved and a new screen I noticed "clouding" on multiple points on the screen during dark scenes. Again I went through LG Warranty and they are going to issue a new screen. And yes banding is also bad on this unit. If I could take this TV back I would. Just an awful TV. I'm stuck in the warranty cycle hopping that eventually I can get this replaced. Save your money and get another TV. I am forced to give this a star which is why I've rated it 1 star. If I had a choice it would not get any stars.

OK on Energy Saving setting

I agree with the other review about the poor banding (is it the local dimming, not the backlight which is actually super bright on vivid setting?) and it blooms (darker corners) BUT I'd have to say it's got the best look in energy-saver mode that I think I've ever seen on any TV. So I might need to play with the custom picture settings before deciding on a return (to turn off local dimming which LG doesn't provide a direct menu setting for like they did on their other TVs). The wand remote feature is OK sometimes but kicks in at other times when you don't really want it. Easy to turn on but a bit annoying to turn off :) At this segment, though, I was expecting a better overall experience. If you like running TVs in Energy Saver, this may not disappoint, and has a great overall look compared to entry-level TVs.

uneven backlighting

might just be my unit but the flashlighting and clouding from this thing are awful, much worse than my 8 year old lcd samsung, and its just an entry level 1080p model. totally ruins dark pictures especially when your room is dark. 4k and hdr is fine with the right settings. placement of the feet is just stupid. either mount it or you'd need a super wide tv stand for the 65" model. i'll be returning mine, not impressed
