The best keyboard ive ever used. But the price is a little bit too high for a blue collared guy like myself. I never would have gotten the chance to try this keyboard out if i had not received it as a gift from a wealthy friend. thanks budz
WHAT MAKES ME NO HAPPY AND BADDERS ME IS THE ON AND OFF LIGHT AT NIGHT IS A PAIN TO APPROACH THE KEYS.
Previous keyboard owned was a Logitech MX 5500.
The MX5500 was a good keyboard with lots of nice bells & whistles but they discontinued it. I've kept the MX5500 mouse as I think it's the best mouse ever designed and am using it with the K800 keyboard. Because the MX5500 is blue-tooth I have to use one USB port each for the keyboard & mouse. It can't be unified with the K800 reciever.
I've only owned it for a day and will only be using it for surfing and e-mails but it has worked flawlessly out of the box. As I'll use it exclusively while sitting in my living room chair I find it easy to type on and the highlighted keys dim quickly when you stop typing but light back up as soon as your hands move again. The key pressure required is slightly more firm than usual but keystrokes are quiet and the overall feel is that it is a very well thought out product. It's about twice the price of other similar use keyboards but feel that if I can get 4-5 years out of it it's money well spent.
Pleasant to the touch, comfy speed typing, useful layout.
Download Logitech software to connect this and a mouse through one receiver.
After two-and-a-half months, initial battery charge still going strong.
Excellent solution for a room with no ceiling light.
I bought this keyboard about a week ago (and Yay! price matching!! Thanks, Best Buy). I am very pleased at how quiet the keys are when typing. I won't say it's silent as I'm sure there's no such thing, but it is definitely not clickity-clackity like most other keyboards are.
I was hesitant at first with the cordless/recharging cable setup as it sounded from other reviews that I read that I would likely end up having it plugged in very often. That is not the case. I think I will be able to charge about once a week on a regular basis and it will be fine. And no, I do not generally turn the keyboard "off" at night. I just don't think of it.
The illumination intensity of the keys has four settings, with the lowest being off entirely. The illumination shuts down when you are not using the keyboard, and turns on instantly when it senses your hands hovering before you even touch a key. Truly perfect for dim/dark rooms.
The keys are molded in a nicely rounded shape around the edges, so they are very smooth and comfortable. And honestly, typing is very easy with this keyboard. I definitely noticed it very soon after using that using the keyboard was comfortable, easy and enjoyable.
If you are contemplating this one, I definitely recommend it. Give it a try, you likely won't return it!
Was happy to buy on sale.
To use this through one unified receiver with a Logitech mouse purchased separately, you will need to download their software, takes a few minutes to set up. Uses a built-in battery and comes with a charging cable.
I use this in a slide-out tray in an IKEA desk, with limited light. Simply set the backlight to 25%, the keyboard detects your approaching hands and lights up.
Can be propped up in tight storage situations.
Includes useful FN keys like controlling music.
I've used this keyboard for about a year now... It's not good, but it's serviceable. I had the wired version previously, and was far superior and ultimately more reliable than the wireless version. Unless you're in a living room like setting then I see no reason to get this. Wired all the way.
intended to be heavy, it does not move around when you are typing a lot of stuff. The keys are very good. Very satisfying!
Lights up, high range, nice click back on the keys, simple yet elegant design
I had the same problem as another reviewer as every other keyboard I got from logitech would wear the letters away after a few months. THe solution is thisbacklit keyboard......it has seemed to work so far. THe keyboard is firm and responsive for my speed of typing
Very disappointed. Expensive. Not for fast typing. If you fast, you just getting more grammar mistakes. If you want type fast and accurate you need hit hard every button.
Too late to return. Came back to my K520, which is better.
Purchased but returned for another Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (wired).
After 2+ years of using a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (wired) the wireless version seems clunky. Where the wired is slender, the wireless is chunky; wired = crisp keytouch, wireless heavy with too long a stroke. Perhaps the biggest turn-off is the constant on/off of the illumination.
I've had two of these for two years now, one at home and one at work and I can testify this is by far the most satisfactory keyboard I've ever used and I've tried a lot of them. One of the main problems I had with other keyboards, no matter how much I spent on them, is the letters starting to wear off after some period of time, sometimes in as little as a month. Two years of heavy daily use on these and still no signs of wear. This is THE reason I bought this keyboard.
As it turns out, though, there are several other very well thought out features that I've come to appreciate. The responsiveness, the layout and size of the keys, the rechargeable batteries that use a USB cable for charging (and they're standard AA rechargeables should you need to replace them), a minimum of unobtrusive extra keys but keys I actually have a use for.
About the only negative thing, and it's not really a negative, just a limit of current battery technology, is that if you run it with the backlighting at full brightness, you'll have to recharge it much more frequently. If you stick with the default brightness level, it'll go weeks between charges.
I'm glad to see they're still available!
Have been looking at it for 3 months after trying it out at the store. This is by far the best keyboard my fingers have had the opportunity to grace, and that's much to say since I've been using Apple keyboards for a while now and found it hard to go back to any other keyboard after that. Plus, it was on sale! Pricy compared to regular keyboards but oh so worth it for your fingers. No cords in your way, illuminated backlight makes it easy to type in the evening, each key is confortable and easy to type with minimum effort. They are bouncy are quiet. Easy as pie to set up: plug and use. And pretty for the eyes. It looks professional and sleek. Definitely worth the price. Good job Logitech.
Great product, especially at the sale price. Love it. Should have longer riser legs.
This is a great keyboard, but it did cost a little more. But it is rechargeable so what you save on batteries , will probably make up the difference. It all depends on how long it lasts. rechargeable batteries dont last for ever. illumination is cool. It would be nice if illumination could stay on all the time, it turns on and off when your hands move over the keys. A nice feature, if you wish to conserve power. I just wish you could switch between on all the time or key movement. Great range on this keyboard however. They even give you a little range extender if you need to be far away. Its pretty cool I can leave it on my desk or take it to the couch. If you can handle the, bigger price, its a good purchase. And you can even use it with you other wireless logitech devices, such as a mouse. Helps free up usbs.
