Marantz CD6007 1-Disc CD Player

I Bought Marantz many years ago but dabbled in other brands since. Lately I bought the pm6007 amp I loved everything about it, it made my new rega 3 turntable sound like it it had come from heaven. As I had loads of flac albums on usb files played from my PlayStation I thought I need something better & guess what the new marantz cd6007 had been released with usb able to play all those files I collected plus my old cds came back out of the stored boxes. All of these little things Marantz had done re kindled my passion again for hifi. I am now going to stay loyal apart from my new speakers ( un-named but classy 5 star reviews) on the way lol. Approaching an enjoyable retirement with happiness, well done Marantz I will never desert you again.

It makes my cds sound digital again, soundstage is wider, more bass, powerful midrange; and my favorite, smoother highs.

I write this somewhat negative review reluctantly. I have a 12-year-old CD5004 which I absolutely love. I expected this newer and more expensive model to sound at least as good. Unfortunately, the designers chose to turn on the loudness switch: exaggerated highs and lows at the expense of the middle frequencies. The 6007 manages to sound shrill and bombastic at the same time. By comparison, my old 5004 sounds more natural and pleasing. Incidentally, the 6007 is connected to the wonderful-sounding Marantz Model 30. Fortunately, there is a digital audio output, but that requires investing in a D/A converter. On the plus side, the 6007's ability to play a variety of files is a very useful feature. My next course of action is obvious: order the SACD 30n.

I ordered the CD6007 in February fron a dealer in Kansas City. I didn't receive it until June, and it was certainly worth the wait. I replaced an excellent Denon player that was 30 years old. The specs on the 6007 were even better and I could hear the improvement after playing the first cd. I paired it up with a high power Pioneer Elite receiver and Phase One tower speakers. The sound is amazing. Highly recommend Marantz for having one of the best cd player lines in the market today.

I'm very happy with this CD player. The sound quality is exceptional and it feels like it is built to last for a long time. The curved end styling of the front panel looks a bit out of place with my non-Marantz brand other components, but I can live with that. It is very interesting switching between the two filter settings to hear the small changes in reproduction. I find that I prefer filter 1.
