Great device, except for certain software issues

I love the Surface pro 4. Keyboard is soft and easy to use. Quick response. Great for students or business PC or laptop. However, it is my second time in 5 months that I am sending it to Windows to be replaced. Warranty covers it, but what to do when the warranty wears off?

Died after 20 hours of use

It's a great product, thin and light and no fan due to the mobile processor. The m3 processor is powerful enough to do most tasks, but come on Microsoft.. I have heard of these dying after a year, but it's only been a month and the unit does not power on. I've barely used it! We'll see how servicing at Microsoft handles this one.

Core M is Not Better on Battery than Other SP4 Model's & it Lagged

I went through 3 various core m units and each lasted only 2-4 hours doing only light web browsing and writing notes, one had issues with screen flicking, and hardware, second very bad only 2 hour battery and distorted screen colours on the second unit and the third was functional but had a low battery of only 4 hours with light use and was very laggy when watching videos, writing notes, painting and using other apps. Also charging cord for this model of SP4 is short compared to the average laptop cord, which is annoying. However bad things aside this surface was very light, faster than older model laptops but struggled to multitask could not have mutiple apps open or more than 3 tabs when web browsing or it would lag and heat up quite a bit. I switched to the i5 model with 128gb and so far so good! Battery life is much better on this now getting 3-6 hours average with light use much better than the previous m3 model, also the charger is longer on i5 model. Overall the m3 was just alright I would highly recommend anyone thinking about getting a SP4 spend the extra money and get a higher processor model I have had no lagging or slowness issues on my new unit and am satisfied so far! Amazing hybrid - unmatched

Absolutely love my new surface pro 4, the m3 version is perfect for me, mostly word processing, PowerPoint, publisher, drawing and browsing / streaming. It's fast and I love all the features, facial recognition is awesome. I got the type cover as well and the keys work great, they don't make an obnoxious clicking sound, and plus it's also back-lit. The surface pen is also a very cool feature, it is extremely responsive and I've had no issues, the only thing that I'm not sure about is that the pen does take 1 AAA battery, this may be a good thing but I'm not sure. If you're debating on a new laptop or macbook, it absolutely depends on what your needs are but this surface pro is awesome especially because it runs full windows 10 just like a regulatory desktop/laptop but has the portability and flexibility of a laptop.

Great multifunctional computer

While being much more powerful than the ipad or any other tablet-hybrid in it's class, the surface is awesome for students and professionals alike. Some notable pro's are; extremely loud and clear speakers, extremely detailed display, relatively quick and nimble with solid ram cards, light weight, great keyboard once purchased (extra) and comparable to most laptops in terms of functionality. Con's to note; battery life is around 9-10 hours which is light but comparable to the mac air, keyboard is extra, the turn on button can be a bit finicky from time to time, like any laptop its small size makes doing large/long project a bit laborious but doable.

Great Product!

Have had my Surface Pro 4 for 3 weeks now and use it daily. It does everything that I need it to and more. It is like having a computer with the portability of a tablet. The detachable keyboard is amazing as well!

Great Laptop Replacement!

Got this surface pro 4 a week ago and LOVE IT!, no troubles so far. Very responsive and with the base model m3 processor is fast enough to meet most of my needs for word processing, web surfing and video streaming. Battery life could be better but I do get 6-7 hours on regular use. Recommended buy!

Great work laptop

Comparing a Surface to iPads is like apple and oranges. I have both and they serve a very different purpose. The iPad is a toy, I have a bunch of useless apps that serve to nothing but entertainment. My Surface is work machine, the USB port is key. It also does most apps I use to keep me entertained on business trips as well but somewhat complicated for my 7 yr old who knows his way around the iPad no problem.

A Power Hungry Low Performance Machine

I Purchased this Surface Pro 4 m3-6Y30 around 3 days ago. It has a smooth and luxurious design. And the concept of this tablet is wonderful. BUT! Whoever was in charge of designing this device should never of been allowed to throw such a weak CPU into it. While using this computer for extremely simple tasks(Such as doing research on the web). The CPU Overheats very easily. Oh, And the Battery is far less than to be desired. I cant watch a YouTube video without the Graphics card literally stopping on me. The computer has to momentarily stop everything. Tell me the graphics card stopped working momentarily. Then says its all fine. Through one 30 minute video this happened at least 3 times. One time the crash was so bad, the computer shut itself down due to "unidentified errors". If you are after the features this computer has. Then make sure you do not get this model. Go for at least the i5. I should mention. I love the sleek design and flexibility this computer has. But it lacks in many areas. ESPECIALLY the battery. The claims this computer will last 9 hours on a single charge is beyond the realm of reasonable feasibility. You will be able to squeeze 3.5-4 hours on 3/4 power settings. I lost over half of my battery today simply by letting it sit in sleep mode for 8 hours today. Okay.. rant over. Buyers.. make sure you do research on this computer. And be prepared for a continuous battle for battery. This is not the ideal product for a student who needs a useful tool in the classroom. Not with such poor battery capabilities.
