  • Dissapointed. Problems with graphics drivers

from Kamloops, BC on March 26, 2019

Had mine 6 months. Not happy. Frequent crashes with MS products. Outlook and excel frequently hang. Took it into MS and they indicated that it was because the graphics driver was not up to the latest version because the operating system update had not been installed. he fixed it for a few days but problem back again! So yeah a lot of money for a machine that i have to reboot frequently to clear hangups

  • Note on VR Below: Love my 15" Surface Book 2 (1TB)

from Whitby, ON on January 27, 2018

Can't say enough good things about the 15" Surface Book 2. Build quality is excellent and display is beautiful (although a little dimmer than past laptops I've used.) Battery life is amazing, and the keyboard is a dream to type on with excellent stiffness (no flex) and key travel. Only disappointment I've experienced is finding out that my Oculus Rift doesn't work; as the Geforce 1060 graphics card does not have a dedicated HDMI out, and instead relies on a USB-C to HDMI dongle. Research online indicates that the rendered graphics from the 1060 have to pass through the integrated graphics chip before being passed out on the USC C port via Display Port Alt protocol. This creates lag, and makes the HMD unidentifiable by the VR software (although Windows Mixed Reality headsets are supported.) I was able to get my HTC Vive working with the official MS USB-C to HDMI adapter (with lag though.) Last Word: do not install Geforce Experience. Use Windows provided Geforce drivers.
