- Great little radios for traveling- July 26, 2019
We used these radios to travel as a group together up in the backwoods of Minnesota and Ontario. I have no idea how the manufacturers can say that it's a 26 mile range, after about a mile on the interstate and backroads that was about it for range. When not traveling at highway speeds and on the lake it had a range of about 2 1/2 miles. they worked well within those smaller areas but once you got out past a mile or so it was pretty broken up. If you were going to use them with scouts and they stayed within a mile of the camp, it would be fine, anything outside of that range, you need better communication tools.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- "Water resistant" should say "splash resistant"- July 6, 2020
These were great little, easy-to-use, compact walkie talkies. I loved everything about them and was excited to take them along on a trip to the lake. We clipped them onto the shoulder of our life vests and unfortunately, my partner fell off her paddleboard. This was pretty shallow water and she was able to immediately pop back up onto her board, making sure the device wasn't submerged in water that long... maybe 15 seconds from start to finish, max. I immediately attempted to contact her from my device, and hers was inoperable. It's 3 days later and it still doesn't work. I'll be contacting the manufacturer and hope I can get a replacement with a product that's actually waterproof. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
- 28 Miles is a Stretch- June 24, 2017
I live in a two story house with a full basement that contains a studio where I spend a good deal of time. My wife has some medical issues and I purchased the 2-way radios so that she could reach me when she is on the second floor and I am in the studio working. For that purpose, all is good. I thought the 28 mile distance would allow me the freedom to leave the house and make short trips with my wife still being able to reach me by simply pushing a button. On my first outing, less than a mile from the house, we were no longer able to communicate. 28 miles seems to be nothing more than a fantasy. Communication outside the house remains a phone call and not the push of a button away. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
