I'd give it zero if possible

I wanted to like this but it's garbage. Screen resolution is awful - seriously, it looks like a flip phone from the 90s. The app is garbage and repeatedly freezes and needs to be reconnected by pushing a button on the camera, which you aren't going to do at 1am. If you leave the monitor on beside your bed, which is probably what you want to do, it will start beeping incessantly in the middle of the night until you turn it off. So you just stop using it. It wont stay charged for longer than a couple hours. Seriously?? Anytime the camera disconnects, it also beeps incessantly. Also, virtually no instructions in the box. Plus mine stopped working completely after about 4 months. Sweet. I had numerous complaints about the functionality of the buttons and menu but with all of the items above, they are moot.

Good monitor

This monitor is good overall and is helpful to have. The only negative is that the hand held monitors volume isn't loud enough. It's hard to hear it even at the highest volume level. It's good to have the ability to view on your phone/tablet.

Waste of Money

I will be returning this as soon as possible. Of course it’s not as simple as returning to the store, you have to contact Motorola. In theory it was a great idea but the camera on the handheld device is garbage and cut out regularly. While the picture for the phone was nice and clear, I found it cut out randomly also, and we have a great wifi connection and speed, so for no apparent reason.

Doesn't rotate

This was a waste of money. I plan on returning it because it doesn't rotate so it's basically fixed in the position that you set it. For the price I pay, it isn't worth it. The quality of the video isn't great either.

Firmware update bricks the device

As soon as you update the device from the mobile app, the device cease working and no factory reset will bring it back to life. Had to return and get reimbursement.

So far so good

I have had this monitor for a week or so now and i find the screen to be clear in day and night. Not too much feed back sounds so i am not kept up listening to every little sound she makes

Where's the colour display?

Don't be fooled by the picture on the box as it's not clear and in colour in real life. . The picture on the display is grey and fuzzy. It's difficult to see the baby in low light.

Don't buy

This monitor is a waste of money. I wasn't a big fan of it before and now after 2 months of using, the camera no longer works. The Wi-Fi app is crap. It never connects properly and constantly cuts in and out. If you're looking for viewing on your phone, stay far away from this monitor. Also, good luck trying to find a spot to put the camera where you can actually see the whole crib. Mine is 4 feet away and it hardly works. The whole device just seems poor quality to me. As this one now does not work and will be going in the garbage, I certainly won't be buying another Motorola.

Perfect for us / Parfait pour nous

This monitor is absolutely perfect for us. We see and hear our daughter very clearly and the battery last super long. I'm really happy with our purchase and I don't understand why some people aren't. Ce moniteur est parfait pour nous. Nous voyons et entendons notre fille très clairement et la batterie dure très longtemps. Firmware update failure

This product ships with an out of date firmware version for the camera. Current firmware update process bricks the camera and renders it useless. Returned the device to Best Buy and was given a new one - Same story. Two devices now dead... Motorola support was great but unable to help. Please avoid this model. Never run baby monitors with old firmware versions - there is always a reason for firmware releases!

Borderline Useless Product

We are so unbelievably disappointed in this product. I never write reviews but I'm this to prevent other parents from wasting money on this non-functioning product. Here we go: 1. Handheld viewer: The resolution is brutal during the day and nearly useless at night and the battery doesn't last longer than a few hours. So just as you've put the kid down and you head out back to garden for 15 minutes it dies. Oh but wait, there's Wifi and a phone app: 2. Wifi: We don't live in a big house and the camera can't stay connected to the wifi for any steady amount of time. It disconnects then you get a warning sent to your phone and to the monitor, which just beeps to demonstrate its impotence uselessness. 3. App: Super good if you like being really incredibly frustrated for long-periods of time. Its like an automatic outrage button, better than facebook for that. It all appears to connect when you first set it up, then when you go to use it you get the colourful spinning tear-drops indicating that your connection will be made in a moment, which it may or may not ever be. Longest wait on record is 20 minutes, so thanks for that Motorola. Basically, Motorola has released a product that should still be in beta-testing round 0.1. I can't believe how useless this thing is. I bet an 11 year old could design a better and higher functioning systems with a Raspberry Pi. Do better motorola! You have a massive market cap, spend your money on some real R&D. We will never buy another motorola product and will spread the anti-motorola gospel. Thanks, Turbo Bummed Parents

Please Don't Bother

From day 1 we have had issues where it would disconnect and reconnect regularly and we just brushed it off. Now 6 months later the camera goes completely offline almost every day. It's a real chore to connect any of my wireless devices to it and when it Actually works. The monitor that comes with it is stable more often than your phone, PC, Tablet, until the camera goes offline all together. You can unplug and re-plug it, hoping it will pick up the feed or re-pair it, but that doesn't help you at 2am when your monitoring your baby while their sleeping. I'm not going into my child's room, risk waking them up, just to power cycle the camera hoping it will re-connect. I look on Motorola's site to look up warrant, it says to send the unit to a third party at the expense of the client, what the hell is that about. I purchased a faulty product and your making me spend more to fix it.... garbage, avoid this camera, listen to the 1 star reviews, this isn't just a 1 off scenario. On a side note, the hubble app that they make you use, is also garbage and has so really terrible reviews as well.

Pretty bad

At first the quality seemed pretty good when using the Hubble app, but after about an hour the quality of the image was worse than the image on the parent unit. And eventually the image was unrecognizeable. When I touched the camera to turn it off it was super hot. The camera over heats pretty quickly and the hotter it gets the less you can see. It also freezes constantly which is a big problem. We returned it after the second day. I was really surprised at how bad this product was and I kind of hope it was just that we got a defective one. We ended up getting something else much better from a no name company. Keep your bill until you know for sure it works.

Poor quality

Had high hopes for this unit but was very disappointed in the video quality. The camera would stay in night vision mode (black and white) unless the bedroom window was open during the afternoon and the lights were on. Also, in order to get a whole view of the crib, the camera had to be placed on the opposite side of the room at which point the quality was too poor to see much of anything. We returned the camera as there are many better units on the market for the same or less price. I do not recommend purchasing this camera.

Not happy with this product

At first I thought this monitor was ok but then once I put my baby in her crib in her room by herself I noticed the qualify of the camera is not very good. It is blurry and you cannot see the baby breathing. I am returning my product and do not recommend this product.

Very disappointed

We originally had a non-video monitor and decided to upgrade so we have access to see our son. I was so excited because it had an app that we could use on our phones, but it turns out the app doesn't work. The monitor has a sound delay and the flashing light distracts my son from falling asleep. The battery life on ours is only a couple hours before we have to plug it in and it randomly turns off even when it is charged. We have only had it since Boxing Day. We bought this cause it had great reviews and we were so disappointed.

We just installed baby. It seems to work very well. As the grandmother, living 1 1/2 hour away, I enjoy being able to see what is going on with the app on my iPhone. Everything is very clear We have only been using it for one day, hope the positive of this monitor continues

This baby monitor works exceptionally well and connnected easily through wifi. Screen size is small in comparison to other monitors on the market but picture quality was good. I am not crazy about connecting through wifi just based on what I've read about them being able to be hacked into. However, if this monitor connected through Bluetooth it would be my first choice.

Phone App Issues

We ordered this product online when it was on sale. We wanted to have a monitor with the wifi abilities but we were unable to get the app to download and work properly. My husband is fairly IT savvy and was not interested in keeping the unit. We did not test out the screen or basic functionality of the product so can no speak to that aspect. The screen did seem awfully small but it's obvious by the product description (can't hold that against it). So, all in all, wifi difficulties is why we gave it a 3/5.

Good and useful baby monitor

I have been using the baby monitor for a few weeks now. It has all of the basic features of a baby monitor so it gets the job done. The sound feature is good, and I am able to hear the sound of the baby very clearly. The video can be sent to my phone, which is pretty cool! There is also night vision to see where the baby is even when the room is dark. Overall, I am very happy with the product.

Easy to use with great features at a reasonable price!

The camera was easy to setup - instructions stated clearly how long to charge before using, product was ready to use as soon as charged, downloading the app and syncing it to my phone was easy and the app had detailed instructions for set up, main keypad has all basic functions for very easy use out of the box. Good sound quality with the two way speakers, good colour picture quality with almost no delay, good night vision quality, room temperature display was accurate and a nice feature, the sound indicator lights are sensitive, reasonable battery life, ability to add a second camera and switch between views. Pros - highly sensitive to sound with the light indicator, nice to shut off the screen to conserve battery life, monitor has a stand to sit upright, all functions used most often are controlled with the keypad, the menu allows for additional features used less frequently and the small monitor size made it easy to carry around throughout the house and yard. Cons - only one person can set up the app and sync to the camera with up to four users within that account, does not pan around the area, no battery backup in case of power loss to camera and can only zoom once closer. Ultimately the monitor is worth the money, especially if purchased on sale.

Not to be used as a video monitor

The video quality is horrible unless it is high noon outside. If it is at all dark you could be looking at your baby or a raccoon going through your garbage you'd never know. This is garbage. Motorola should have better technology than this they must use webcam tech from the 90's in baby monitors cause this is sad.

Great baby monitor

I have used this baby monitor for just about 2 weeks now and i do love it. I was hesitant about using a video monitor at first but now that i have one I feel a lot better about them. The only thing I dislike about it is that it is quiet. I wish the camera had a clap so you could clip it to the side of the crib. I am sure that would make the sound louder. Over all great product and gives you a peace of mind to be able to watch your little ones sleep.

Awesome Baby Monitor!

The motorola 2.4” screen digital video baby monitor with wi-fi is an excellent monitor! There are many things I love about the monitor. For instance, the baby monitor works straight out of the box when you plug it in; no fumbling with annoying software if you want to use the handheld monitor (this is a huge plus compared to the angel care monitor we have). The monitor works well from any area around our house - basement, backyard, between floors etc - for clear sound and video display and has a great feature for talking to baby once they wake up to provide assurance that you are on your way! The camera is sensitive enough to pick up all noise in our son’s room ie when he is stirring, talking to himself, whining or crying. My husband and I set up the baby camera to work with our andriod phones with the Hubble app from motorola. Setup was quick and easy, working on the first try; and I doubt the experience would be any different with an iphone. One drawback when viewing the camera through the phone is there is a noticeable two second delay with movement and what appears on the screen; this really isn’t that big of a deal since most often we use the monitor that it comes with (which doesnt have a delay). A neat function on the phone though, is that it sends a picture to your phone when it detects movement. Who doesn’t love cute baby pictures sent to their phone?! I love that I can monitor the temperature in our son’s room, since the temperatures vary by room in the house. I was worried that the camera didn't come a mount, but conveniently it can be mounted directly on the wall with 2 screws. We also have the vtech safe and sound digital baby monitor with pan/tilt/zoom, and though both are user friendly systems I found the vtech icons to be slightly more universal; ie there is an icon on the motorola for an alarm function for 6 hrs, 4 hrs and 2 hrs - I went to the user guide online to find out what it was. For us, this function hasn’t proven to be useful as I’m not certain why you would set an alarm since the last thing you want to do is wake a sleeping baby! I wish the motorola digital baby monitor came with tilt/pan option since I find the viewing (even with the 2 zoom options) to be slightly restricted and I also prefer the bigger monitor screen on the vtech (though then it makes it not as portable as the motorola). Overall the motorola digital video baby monitor is an awesome monitor that I would highly recommend!

Good but not great

Pros: - Nice to have digital screen that doesn't require a Wi-Fi connection. - Wide angle view and good picture quality. - Provides a temperature reading on the screen. Cons: - Makes a lot of random and loud sounds, so you need to be mindful of when you turn it on/off to not wake the baby. - Battery life is okay. Definitely need to plug it in if you want to use it all night. - Has a flashing blue light when it is on, which can be distracting. Overall, this is a decent monitor, and a good value when it is on sale. At full price it is the same as a Nest, which I think is a better monitor overall.

good product for parents

I just received it as a sample from baby sample club of Best Buy. Set up is super easy, hardly any instruction needed. And it won't come with a booklet on "how to use". It's literally a sheet of paper with quick explanation. You HAVE TO charge the monitor 16 hours prior to use. Camera has an adapter, it's not battery operated, so it needs to be hooked up the whole time, which isn't even an issue. I personally don't have the monitor on all the time (camera is), so I can't say how long the monitor battery last. I just don't need to be staring at my baby all the time. The monitor will go to almost like a "save power" mode after a minute or so, but you just have to touch the button to have it come back up. I'm glad that night vision works great, seen as how that's all my interest was. Great value!

Pefer to buy

Generally speaking, this is a very simple to use and good monitor. The monitor came just in time after we moved to the townhouse. Our baby can sleep good upstair while the big sister is playing downstaris and we still can hear the baby cry clearly downstair. thank you best buy for choosing us to have this. First of all, the 2.4 monitor can clearly show at night vision mode, and it has color during the day time. but it would be nice if the monitor can be bigger with better resolution. I would say use the cell phone app " Hubble" has a better resolution then with this monitor. However, if the screen can do full screen on cell phone. It would be perfect. You need a good wi-fi at home; otherwise use this wireless monitor will have better reception. The melody i won't suggest to use because using wifi, it is keep cutting off. Also, i don't think those are baby music. I would say this should make it soft music or like twinkle twinkle little star or something like music mobile music. The camera have to plug in to the outlet. If the camera also be wireless, it would be great. The monitor after fully charge can use up to 3-5 hours. It is nice to have the motion detection capture and video capture, but it is very sensitive, kind of taking too much memory for my phone, so i turn off. The cool thing is come with the temperature control, so i know if the baby is cold or not. This feature available both on cell and the monitor. Also, notification to tell you about it which is a great feature. Overall speaking, if the price on sale it is a good buy. Once again, thank you best buy for the monitor

Sample tester

I am very excited to received this from Best Buy as a sample testing. I just recently moved to townhouse and this come right in time. I would say this monitor is an excellent machine. I have 2 kids myself and it is excellent for me to watch the baby sleep upstair while the big sister is playing downstairs. I don't use the baby melody as the music isn't soft enough for baby to sleep plus cutting off at all times. Very good with temperature showing, so I know if my baby will feel too cold or too hot in the room. I am also very happy I can c what my baby doing when I am outside the house. However, the screen that come with the machine is too small and the quality of resolution on the screen isn't great as well. The app resolution is way better but of course depends on what phone you use. The only thing is the app image also is very small. It would be nice if there's a full screen option. At the end I would give 4/5. Finally, I have to thank to bestbuy (high five) baby sampler club given me the option for testing this monitor. 5/5 to bestbuy and since I got this for free, I will donate this to some single mom in the local after my baby grow up. I hope all other samplers should do the same thing after.

Does the job

I give it 3.5 stars/5, however this has been my only video monitor up to date so I don't have a good comparison or real expectations. We have had this camera for about 3 weeks now. It does the job it's intended to and the battery is decent. We have to charge it about every other day or so (we don't leave the monitor on overnight and use it unplugged for naps-- being on for about 2-3 hrs at a time) You don't have to have the screen on at all times, can dim it which is nice option. Video quality does the job but it is not superb, definitely would expect better quality so if you are expecting to see fine detail you will not. The lullabies it plays sound like they cut out as if streamed from Internet, so we don't use them at all. Which is a bummer. There is NO pan tilt option with the camera, which you would also expect at this price range. The cords for the plug in and for the camera are long which luckily provide you with capability to move it around. The temperature reader is a great extra for this camera. There is a zoom X1 and X2 but I don't find it very good. 2 way communication is nice since our toddler co-shares the room and we can tell him things Overall it's a decent camera and it so far does the trick. We basically just needed sound with occasional video viewing. Wifi Hubble app is also good if you went to view on other device (have not tried it outside of home yet) I would however not buy this monitor at full price. We got it on sale and I am glad. Else I would feel a bit ripped off.
