I installed one of these facing North East - which is not ideal. It is true that it will only charge your camera when the temperature is above 0 deg C. But even in this cold winter in southern Ontario we have had a couple of days with morning sun above zero degrees - and one those days this panel added 9% and 20% charge respectively. At this rate it only will take a day or two above 0 degrees C per month to keep the camera charged. And in spring to fall - it will easily reach 100% going into the winter. Even in my high traffic entry location and in -15 degree weather it uses a little less than 1% per day. So this little panel is all it takes combined with a day or two just above 0 with some sun each month to make it through winter and the whole year through. Yes - for battery safety reasons explained by Arlo it won’t charge below zero. But when it does charge it can add 20% even in winter and get you through until spring. It’s perfect.

This product is a great concept, however, i will caution any potential buyers that this is just a concept that hasnt been perfected yet, I bought 4 of these Solar panels for my camera's and so far they have all been a bust, I installed them as per the instructions as well as used the Simply Solar App to properly position them and so far 2 will work but not at temperatures below 0 ( if you live in canada your SOL) and the other two not only didnt work but they managed to drain the power from the batteries and no matter how much i charge the batteries back up they will not hold a charge, i have spoken to netgear about this issue and withing 24 hrs they advised the solar panels were defective, ( there willing to replace the panels but not the batteries and I have to pay for shipping ......) Moral of this Story... dont waste your money...

Does not charge when cold

It is -4 C today and when I look at the monitoring page I see a message that the battery is not charging because the battery is too cold.

Does not work below 0 degrees Celsius

This product does not work below 0 degrees Celsius which is like majority of the time if you live in Canada or cold climate. Netgear hasn’t responded but many people are complaining in their support community. I DO NOT recommend you buying this POS.
