- Great Mesh router but missing some special featureReviewed by Thomas - November 4, 2019
Setup: Download the Orbi app to your phone before you hook up and setup Orbi Wifi 6. Run an Orbi app and follow instructions on the screen. It's very easy. Features Missing Circle with Disney and Netgear Armor. It's very helpfully if I can setup 2.4GHz and 5Ghz networks separately or control them. Missing hidden wifi feature. Need a light in the front to show that Orbi is on and works properly. Performance Wifi signal is really strong and great download and upload speed. I did a couple of tests and everything above my speed. Usually, I only get about 100-150 Mbps but now it doubles my speed. The wifi signal met my expectations, due to some feature is missing it does not meet my expectations for the price. The price is too high because it misses two features. I will recommend this device to my friends and family who only need strong wifi signal coverage for there home.

Absolute garbage for the price point. I replaced a Linksys MX5300 mesh network with this because of lightning damage. I have a smart home with 60-70 devices connected via WiFi at any given time. After a terrible installation procedure with defined wait periods of several minutes (waiting for Satellite to come online, etc.) that took a hand full of tries before it would finish without crashing, I was able to create my network. After a few minutes, the WiFi network would disappear and I would have to factory reset the system and start the on boarding process again. After troubleshooting, it turns out that the DHCP service on the Orbi system was crashing. The logs show that after 20-25 simultaneous DHCP requests, the service would become unresponsive. I corrected this problem by running a separate DHCP server on a hole server but that is unacceptable at this price point. The system doesn't support simultaneous WPA2/WPA3; again, unacceptable at this price point. This system has a dumbed down app that allows you to change the network name and password, view connected devices, and subscribe to some network security option offered by Netgear. If you need to do anything other than that, you will have to use a web browser to login to the system. Overall connectivity was decent and although providing the same wireless-AX coverage as my Linksys 4-node system with two nodes, I am not impressed. While wireless-AX devices are provided good connections speeds (see iPhone 12 screenshot), older wireless-AC devices struggle with upload speed. (See AppleTV 4K screenshot.) While the Orbi router/satellite units can easily be connected together via Ethernet backhaul, the resulting empty 5GHz channel cannot be used for client connectivity. The Linksys system, on the other hand, will add the unused channel for client connectivity, thus reducing channel congestion. Speaking of wireless channels, the Orbi router also supports a maximum channel band of 80MHz. 160MHz is not an option. I will be returning the system and purchasing a professional-grade AX access point system. If you are an IT professional, a power user, or you simply have a large network, steer clear of this system.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend. - Worth the money.Verified BuyerReviewed by Newbie - October 26, 2021
I had Cox gigblast for year. Over the years I got smart switches(whole house), smart light bulbs, security cameras, vacuum, garage , ring door bells and even appliances!! So many devices I connected to WiFi. One I had was cox gateway. it was start kicking my devices out. Cox recommended me to get second internet plan or switch to business plan. My house is not a huge house but I need something like this, router is located on second floor and satellite is located on first floor. I love the speed and I was able to connect all of my smart devices. Second floor was bit faster. I haven’t got any notification from my security system for losing internet signal yet. I bought net gear NightHawk modem as well.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - Finally able to fully take advantage of AT&T FiberVerified BuyerReviewed by BRich - October 25, 2019
I have never been more impressed with a home networking setup. I upgraded from the previous orbi model with 1 router and 2 additional satellites and have never been able to consistently get the speeds that I am getting now. The setup is very simple, the app is user friendly, and the wireless internet speeds are amazing. I am consistently getting over 900 Mbps on download and upload speeds.

Wow what a difference switching from AMPLIFI to Orbi AX6000. Prior to the switch at the modem hard wired I was getting approximate speeds of 525 mbps, My old router mesh system dropped it to ~ 175 mbps throughout the house with 2 satellites. Since switching my speeds of increase throughout the entire home to 470 to 450 Mbps consistently. With the same number of devices attached 30 in total, two with VPN’s. App is clean and easy to use. Now for the bad which Customer support helped correct immediately. Both the router and satellite required firmware software updates prior to initiating the system. Normally this is done in the background automatically however in this instance the routers failed to update automatically and a manual process have to be used. It was an easy fix however it did require a call into tech-support. The technician was easy to follow very patient and help us walk-through this issue. All in all I would highly recommend this product.
