- Great routerReviewed by 8r4nd0n - June 21, 2019
First impression after unboxing. It looks very nice and sleek reminds me of a sports car large grill near the back for ventilation. Has mounting holes on the bottom however it doesn’t include screws in the box. Included in the box router, power adapter, flat Ethernet cable and instructions. Setup is made simple through the nighthawk app automatically searches and installs the latest firmware during setup. The app makes changing network name and password fast and simple. Advanced settings can be changed my accessing routerlogin.net Has many features. I have had this router setup a few ways in the past weeks just a stand alone router connected straight to the modem also in AP mode connected to another router. I had to manually set the WiFi channels so the two routers didn’t cause interference with each other. I also disabled 2.4G on the AX4 and ran only 5G and disable 5G on a different router and dedicated two separate routers for each band. Netgear really made it easy to access and change all these settings. The speed and range on this router is very impressive. I compared 3 routers one supplied by my internet service provider a Netgear R7450 and the AX4. I used professional WiFi testing equipment from JDSU to test the signal levels the AX4 comes out on top on the 5G on every location in my home even outside through stone walls. The 2.4 the R7450 has the AX4 beat by 2dBm not very much. Anyone looking to get this router is probably interested more in speed and would be using the 5G network anyways. This router is fast I just wish I had a faster internet connection to see its full potential. I currently have a 400 download 20 upload plan from my service provider. Running a speed test I get a 473/23 pretty consistent throughout my home. But everyone must understand basic WiFi limitations every home will be different and router placement is the key factor. Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, large TVs will dramatically impact your WiFi signal. So try and find the most central location in your home for the best results. I have not encountered any problems with this router during setup until now about a month has passed. not even a hiccup I am able to stream 4K with Netflix with no problems to many devices to even list have all been connected to this router and it handles it like a champ. I would highly recommend this router especially if you have fiber in you area and plan on getting gig service. Easy to setup great performance and reliability and it just looks awesome! I received this product to review as part of NETGEAR's First Look Review Program, but the opinions expressed in the review are solely mine.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - Great Wifi RouterVerified BuyerReviewed by KiLLiK - September 13, 2019
I was impressed with this router. New Wifi 6 standard with an easy to use interface to configure it. Liked that you have endless entries for forwarding ports compared to my previous Linksys router which only had a dozen entries for forwarding ports. I also was easily able to setup my dynamic IP to update www.dyn.com. Router has strong signal to my wifi devices and downloads speeds are incredible. Very Pleased with this product and would recommend it.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - Amazing little routerReviewed by Thecableguy - December 16, 2019
I work for a cable company and have seen and worked with several routers from same and different companies and can tell that this router is great for the size and price. Most houses that i go to and myself have more than 10 devices connected to the router and at least 2 smart TVs. This router had no issues with transfer speeds and lagging issues. My son games while we stream Netflix and he can see the difference. I have a gigabit 8port on it with extender and no issues at all connecting with new router. Is on open space in living room and has much better distance (@2200sqf) than my older netgear ac router. In my opinion if the price is right and you have a small to medium size home with more than 16 small devices and 4 TVs this device will make a difference with stock cable company routes. Good luck and Happy streaming.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - A complete waste of my time...Reviewed by peterkline - July 13, 2019
I'm an IT Pro with 20 years of experience. This router is not worth your time and money. Out of the box, the web interface is completely inaccessible from a wired laptop. If pages load, it can take minutes for config pages to appear. Once I managed to get wireless interface configured it completely stopped working until a factory reset - and it barely worked when left at defaults. Spent almost an hour trying to update the firmware which yielded absolutely no better result. Shame on Netgear for even letting this thing reach manufacturing... Confirmed different wireless chipsets (Intel, Broadcom, Atheros) and our Android, Windows devices had same issues.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend. - Could Be BetterVerified BuyerReviewed by CJay - March 22, 2020
Bought this due to the fact it was on sale for a same price as the ac1900, and it was for the new wifi 6. Didn't take long for me to realize that the OFDMA wifi 6 protocol pretty much made it where none of my devices in the house could connect to the internet. That is including my new Samsung S10+, which is supposed to be able to use the new ax connection. There have been a few updates that helped some usability, but the QOS options for gaming are not as good as the ac1900, and so this device will leave a lot to be desired if you want to use it for gaming. Also, now I can not even get into the router log in page. I believe I am going to be returning it
