The AF DX Fisheye-NIKKOR 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Lens from Nikon provides an extreme 180? picture angle, equivalent to that of a 16mm fisheye lens in the 35mm format. It is compatible with Nikon DX format DSLR cameras and creates the distortive visual effect of a non-circular fisheye lens that fills the entire rectangular image frame.

There's no doubt that the Nikon fisheye lens is easy to use, as long as you understand how it works. (This lens has no aperture setting and exposure must be carefully controlled from the camera.) The big problem with the Nikon fisheye is chromatic aberration where there is strong contrast between objects. An example would be fence posts against snow, or a telephone pole with a bright sky background. Red and green bordering around these objects made the lens unacceptable. Where lighting dynamics aren't severe and cost isn't an issue, this lens should be in your bag for special efects.

This is a great fisheye lens! It's easy to use, and can focus very close to your subject, making for some very wild looking shots. If you have a full frame (FX) camera, such as the D3 or D700, steer clear of this, and get the 16mm fisheye instead.

I haven't had a chance to shoot with is too much yet, but the pictures I have taken turned out very well. I compared a few different fish eye lenses before purchasing this one, and so far am pleased that I spent a bit more to get a good one.
