- Needed for use of F lenses on Z mount.- August 16, 2020
Not much to say about this adapter. You need it to use your F mount lenses on your Z mount camera bodies. It's a little expensive but you seem to catch a break if you get it WITH a new Z body. Not sure how long this will be an option, but don't hesitate. You can always sell it later, probably for more than you paid. The mount itself is very nicely tight fitting. In my experiences, the F mount always seemed to have some play no matter what body or lens I've used. The Z mount seems to have eliminated that and it's pleasing to feel that tight connection being made with this very expensive gear. It's light and almost unnoticeable when attached.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great addition to the new system- November 9, 2018
This adapter lets you put hundreds of Nikon F lenses on the new Z6 and Z7 cameras. You don't lose any functionality on the more modern lenses (anything built in the last 20 years mostly). You can use many other older lenses, but not with autofocus. You can't use the old lenses that used the coupler on top of the lens to transfer exposure information mechanically unless they are modified to be AI-S. (You won't likely want them anyway). Lenses made by other companies are hit-or-miss with all functionality. Absolutely get this if you're going to get into the Z system. And buy it with the body and save $100.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Decent, but probably the best option for now.- December 29, 2020
I bought this obviously because it is the Nikon adapter for putting F mount lenses on a Z mount camera. I figured that because it was Nikon's, it was the best option. Don't expect a high quality adapter, the mount feels very rough when putting lenses on it, not the usual slide and click you normally get. Feels more like I'm grinding the lenses onto it. There is no glass inside the adapter, which I was expecting for the size of the adapter. Overall, it works. The vignette is pretty bad with this adapter, but the autofocus works great, and I haven't had a problem with any of my lenses.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Adapter adapts- May 7, 2021
The FTZ adapter is a good unit to own if you upgraded to a Nikon Z series camera. It pretty much can adapt to almost every Nikon lens for your new Z camera. Nikon has a guide on their website that can help you find your lens and see it it will work with the adapter and the Z camera. I used this with a Nikon 50mm lens for about a week and decided that I will just stick with buying Z lenses and returned the adapter to Best Buy. Seems that Best Buy considers this piece to be a 'lens' and charged me a 15% restocking fee. Needless to say, I argued the point and lost. I do not consider this to be a lens, it's an ADAPTER not a lens but Best Buy wants that 15% so I'm now buying my photography equipment through KEH or MBP.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- must have for the Nikon Z50 camera- August 28, 2021
I bought a Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera online. I purchased it in a kit bundle. I was not impressed with the lens that came with the bundle, even being a beginner mirrorless user I knew they weren't the best lens. I just wasn't getting clarity on photos. The Best Buy employee was very knowledgeable on Nikon products. He told me to be able to change lens to older Nikon lens or even new better lens I would need an FTZ mount adapter. I bought it and a macro f2.8 lens that I love and can't wait to purchase other lens when funds allow.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
