Overview
Overview
Get up close and personal
- Macro lens allows you to capture images of insects, flowers, and other wildlife at life-size (1:1) reproduction ratio.
- The 40mm focal length of the AF Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens provides a 0.16m working distance, making it a great lens for food photography or detailed product shots.
- An f/2.8 fixed aperture delivers great low light performance and shallow depth of field for a stunning, natural-looking bokeh effect in the out-of-focus areas.
Stay sharp and focused
- Silent Wave Motor delivers precise, quiet, and fast autofocus, allowing you to hone in on your subject without a noisy focus motor scaring them off
- Sometimes you'll want to take a more hands-on approach to focus. The lens's M/A Focus Mode Switch lets you seamlessly change between manual and autofocus.
- Close-Range Correction (CRC) system ensures superior lens performance, increasing the focusing range and delivering exceptional picture quality at close focusing distances
Lightweight design
- Standard fixed-focal length lens is designed specifically for DX-format Nikon DSLR camera and weighs just 235g. Great for extended shooting sessions, experimenting with macro photography.
Micro NIKKOR optics
- This lens helps reduce lens flare and chromatic aberration thanks to Nikon's exclusive Super Integrated Coatings, which also help ensure vividly accurate colour balance.

- Great lens for the priceVerified BuyerReviewed by Smiley - January 23, 2021
I was looking for a lens I could use for macro photography. I seen this one was on sale and did not break the bank. It does exactly what I need. Since it does not have VR I recommend using a tripod or monopod. I have a 35mm and 50mm, this lens will get you a lot closer. I have included photos I have taken, both macro and landscape

This is a great macro camera for beginners. It takes crisp pictures and I recommend focusing it manually.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - great for indoor useVerified BuyerReviewed by wannabephotographer - August 28, 2021
This lens rocks for inside use, especially on people. I'm talking it looks like professional photograper photos. But I've tried to use it on flowers and outdoor photography and can't get the correct settings. (If I could it would get 5 stars) On outdoor pics everything is either washed out, overly vivid on flowers to where they look fake or just not focused well. I would say if you want indoor photos of people this is a great lens for that. I'm a new Dslr/Mirroless user so maybe I just need practice but I'm pleased I got it for indoors. I have it attached to a Nikon Z50 camera I bought a few weeks before I purchased this Nikkor 40 mm f/2.8 macro lens, so I had to buy a Z mount to use the f2.8 lens on my camera. I bought the camera in a bundle with 2 lens and they are beginner entry level lens from what the best buy employee told me. This is an upgrade for sure. Here's a few low light fall decor pics. I'm pleased with it.

This is an excellent lens for the price. The auto-focus is a bit touchy and slow, but I usually shoot manual anyway. Very pleased with this lens.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. - Great Pic Partner with STUNNING VideoVerified BuyerReviewed by TommyKib2 - April 26, 2013
I've waited a few years after my DSLRs died for a good HDSLR and whoah nellie is this a great camera with awesome video! What sets it apart from the others I tried is having the controls you need, even as simple as it sounds AF vs MF.. right on a button/knob. With the MB15 grip having both dual batteries and dual memory card slots, PHENOMENAL for what I do. I can walk miles and miles on the nature trails and shoot 1200 + pics without changing batteries or memory cards.
