- Not worth the money- March 4, 2013
I bought this to help simplify making hotdogs for my kids. We have hotdogs on a regular basis at home, so the idea of putting in a bun along with a hotdog was what drew me into purchasing this. The problem with this is that the holes for the hotdogs are too small for larger hotdogs, and even with the regular sized dogs they would still come out cold. Bread being toasted requires a different temperature and time than the hotdog, but it looks like they didn't take any consideration to account for the differences. Maybe I was using this product wrong (I didn't read the instructions), but I will continue to with boiling hot water/microwave method. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
- Nice way to cook hot dogs- August 22, 2015
This appliance does a nice job of cooking hot dogs. It is much better tasting than microwaving which creates uneaven hot spots and seems to make the dogs taste more salty. As others have commented, it can burn the buns. I typically like my dogs hot so I turn of the temperature control to cook the dogs and then grill the buns separately on a lower setting. I would have given it a 5 star rating if there hot dog holder had a wider range in size. It does hold most sized hot dogs but there are a few "fat" dogs that don't fit. Also the slide mechanism does not feel real solid (build quality is not great). Other than that that I recommend this device.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Looks great, good & fun idea, poor implementation- February 5, 2015
Bought this for my son's dorm as he loves hot dogs. We tried it at home and the buns get toasty and the wieners are cool/cold on the inside. The instructions recommend room temperature wieners but in reality a short few seconds in the microwave to heat up the inside is more what is necessary before toasting the outside skin. It's more trouble than it's worth and the build quality is suspect. I understand outsourcing to a low cost manufacturer, but you can pay too little to get something done. There's no value in this product and I'd paid 1.5-2X the price point I paid had it worked and had a better build quality. It's cute and retro looking...but that's where it starts and ends. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
