I took this receiver home yesterday and it is a pleasure to listen to. I paired it with a set of R150 Polk Audio bookshelf speakers I received at the same time and the two go very well together. I am very happy with both. Incidentally, this receiver has a great AM tuner - totally unexpected since all my previous receivers had a bad AM tuner. The FM tuner is just as good. The "Direct" mode lets you listen to the sound without corrections and it is a nice extra. If I need a bit more bass, then I go into the "Tone" mode and add some bass and treble. Even my wife was pleasantly surprised when she heard the sound. That tells me a lot. :-)

I bought this to replace an old Sansui unit I have in in my basement for music and movies etc. I am extremely happy with the decision to buy this receiver.....I was skeptical at first with it only being 100 watts but after reading other reviews decided to take the gamble. What can I say other than Wow! My concerns about not enough power were addressed. It sound great with more than enough punch no matter if it's movies or music. And with it being 'old school' design, my wife has no troubles figuring out how to switch from TV, DVD, F.M. etc. even without the remote. Great value!

Old school receiver. The specs on this unit are close to what we had back in the golden age of sound systems - early 80s to mid 90s. A solid 50w, intuitive remote control, you might need a small external FM antenna. It looks great, nice clean uncluttered look. I'm running a turntable and an iPod through it, they both sound great. Superb value and a really, really solid unit. Great work Onkyo.

The machine I received does not have an optical input or digital inputs as shown on the picture. Complete waste of my time. I now have to go back to the store snd get a credit.

I bought this stereo receiver to replace an old receiver that failed. It connected to my system the same way as the old one. Performance is great and with the remote control I can control the receiver from anywhere in the room. Very happy with this purchase.

I purchased this unit for my 80 year old father in law. He needed to replace his 20 year old Pioneer receiver. He wanted something simple to operate. He only plays records and CDs. He also appreciates good sound. This unit fit the requirements and the budget. It is driving a new pair of Polk TSX330T. The room is 20 by 25 feet. It surpassed my expectation. I didn't know 50w per side could be so loud and yet so clean at the same time. I'll be looking at Onkyo when it's time to upgrade my system.

A straightforward, "no nonsense" receiver with phono pre amp, great for using with old but good turntables. Easy hook up. Nice to have separate bass/treble controls. Easy to see in dark or sunlight. Pleasure to use, good value for the price.
