Quality product, excellent sound and great functionality. I was originally worried after reading about HMDI issues but with good high speed wires this receiver is perfect! Very happy with the purchase and have long been an ONKYO customer.

For hardcore HT enthousiasts

This unit is a monster. 30 pounds of power. It will cover anybody's HT needs for many years to come. The only drawback (for me) is the front panel: since I prefer to use the unit's buttons over the remote control, I always have to open/close it whenever I want to change a setting or make a selection. If it is left open, I find it somewhat spoils the pure, minimalist, stylish, modern look of it. But if you use remote controls, then go for it if you can afford it. BTW, the Onkyo RZ-Serie units are covered by an Onkyo 3-year warranty.

Great Sound!!!

Installation and setup (I am using the bi-amp format) was a breeze and the sound reproduction for streaming and blu-ray is exceptional. I never knew there was so much subtle audio detail that I had previously been missing. Excellent value.

Best receiver period

I've had Sony STRDN1080 7.2 for over 1year , which powered 2Polk Audio RTIA9 500 watts tower speakers and a Klipsch R25C 400-Watt Centre Speaker. This was my first receiver for the Home Theatre in my basement, as a novice it did sound good but could feel something was missing . But I bought Onkyo TX-RZ820 this December 28th , and wow the Polk speakers actually came alive ! Had never heard Atmos in such great detail ;had my friends come over and they were blown away. Also down the lane I can add an amplifier to Increase the channels . Great receiver on boxing day sale !

Power.. but it's still an wonky Onkyo

I fell into the hype about how powerful this unit is, but the features definitely feel like a receiver worth half as much. I was upgrading from a two-year-old Denon AVR-X3300W, which still competes with current models because of it's 4K 60p, bluetooth, wifi, spotify etc etc so I'm not sure what I was expecting this Onkyo to do aside from have a more punchy presentation.. The menu system is slow and un-polished, connecting to and then changing songs with Spotify is sluggish and delayed, and there doesn't seem to be any options for anything at all to do with the video quality or pass-through options. Audio setup is also extremely basic and even the display looks cheap and cuts off half of what's supposed to be on it for lack of dot-matrix dots. I'd say for the beginner / casual consumer, at this boxing week price point, it's a good unit. But I'm returning mine and keeping my two year old Denon with far more usability, but a bit less power, until I can afford an Anth

I've had flagship receivers for the greater part of 20 years, the last one couped with a six channel amp and it pales before this Onkyo model. It is a true sonic monster, possessed of tremendous range and awesome spaciousness. It delivers, is definitely no power wimp and is a keeper. The best I've had so far.

Double wow!

I've been a home theatre fanatic for years -- I've gravitated towards Yamaha products for the past 15 years but this Onkyo unit has more spatiality, better sound texture and a remote that is as easy to operate and program. They say that the more expensive the gear, the simpler it becomes to operate. This holds true for this extraordinary sonic powerhouse. Heck, it even made me ditch my old Kenwood 6 channel amp that boosted my Yamaha Aventage. Best purchase I've made so far -- components and connections are top-notch and plenty of power to spare.
