- Great series- December 19, 2015
Outlander masterfully blends fantasy (time travel) with historical fiction (the Jacobite revolt in 1743 Scotland). The series does very well in portraying mid-18th century Scotland by actually filming from a Scottish castle. Viewers should also appreciate the show producers' efforts in meticulously tracking period-appropriate dress and traditions. Discretion should be exercised for those under 18, however. The military conflict between the English and Scots brings with it some graphically violent scenes. But the series also gets into, at times, gratuitous intimate scenes. The last episode should be screened before showing it to others for an extended, non-consensual male-on-male scene.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Excellent series- April 23, 2016
My wife and I watched Outlander on Starzz and really enjoyed it. It is amazing just to look at with big screen production values and amazing locations. The story is very good. It's more than the romance. You've got political intrigue and one of the nastist villains ever and very hot love scenes. I have a friend who won't check it out because it sounds romance novel. It's like when Walking Dead came out I thought who needs a zombie show. Boy was I wrong! If you are dismissing this as a bodice ripper you are missing some great tv and some pretty good ripping.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great story, writing and acting.- November 3, 2015
This is the second volume of Series 1 of Outlanders and as with the first is well written, acted and directed. The initial story (Volume 1) takes us from the end of WWI and picks up a young married couple who have been separated by war. Volume 2 picks up the adventure in Scotland 1700s (You have to watch Volume 1 to find out how that happens). The story itself is compelling and has an interesting twist on time and moving through time, on legend and myth and reality. Well done and would highly recommend.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Excellent Story Line/Great Attention to Detail- October 21, 2016
The production is true to the book which is so appreciated. Beautiful scope of landscape, Scottish culture and customs. Great love story and historical background. Great job of production! Rich and luscious storyline. Bought Volume 2 of First Season because the sticker price was placed over the Volume number. Had to go back to the story and get Volume 1 to see the beginning of the story. Can't wait for Season 2 to come out even though I am in Book 5 of the series.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Welcome, Sassenach- December 28, 2016
Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books are finally adapted in this Starz series. Well cast, well written and beautifully shot, the show is a must-see for fans of the books, as well as of historical fiction with a dash of time travel. 20th-Century nurse Clare Randall inadvertently finds herself in 18th-Century Scotland while honeymooning in the country. What follows are her adventures while finding her way back to her husband and her time.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
