Panasonic 1.3 Cu. Ft. Microwave (NNSG656W) - White

this is the third one we have purchased the first one was under warranty and was replaced due to a fuse or motor failure the second one was under warranty also this one blue up due to a power surge in our breaker box the third one we just got the other day so far no problems under warranty also. Good for reheating up food drinks not the best for cooking will get hot on top. If you use the product for what it is intended for great little microwave for the price. Important do not use a extension cord for this product and do not have a lot of other products plugged into the wall splitter such has toaster pressure cooker on all at the same time

This is replacing a previous NNS615W Panasonic Microwave that seems to have blown the inverter after 10 years. Unfortunately, while it has similar dimensions and outer appearance, it is smaller, less powerful and the window is less visible. After 10 years, it seems newer models are generally a downgrade. This one has a high frequency hum when not in use and is louder then I'm used to.

Purchased yesterday on sale at local competitor.. Advertised as white but the outside door area is a pale grey. Dimensions are almost 2 inches less in depth and height. SIgnal beeps 5 times when food is heated instead of usual 3 beeps. 4 discs underneath are hard plastic feet and do not stop microwave from sliding on smooth counter when door latch is pushed - I had to secure the unit with square pieces of rubberized shelf liner. Plastic ring under glass turntable is an unattractive shade of brown instead of white. Options panel is darker grey with smaller lettering, hard to see clearly. Timer window is large with vivid green lighting and legible numerals. Water heated quickly at 30-second option. My old GE microwave was much more sturdy, but the ceiiing and sides started to show rust discolouration after 3 years. Interior should be wiped dry after each use to prevent moisture remaining inside.

My old 1000 watt Panasonic Genius Model NN-S588 just died after 21 years of everyday use. I loved it and wanted another one like it; but they are not on the market and settled for this one. Even the top of the Panasonic Genius Model's do not have the bell's and whistle's that the old model had so hopefully Panasonic sees this and makes one as convenient to use as their old model. This model is ok but defiantly not as user friendly.

Our last microwave ground to a halt after 21 years and we sort of took it for granted. It was easy to use and worked flawlessly. We picked this up as our replacement. Seems more cheaply built. More plasticky. Push button latch needs good pressure to open. A bit more powerful for watts, but louder. Hard to see food inside as light is dim and the grid on front screen obstructs view. Buttons seem less responsive and harder to push. I would rate the old microwave from year 2000 as 5 star and I would rate this year 2021 new microwave 3 stars. Will see how long this will last before a piece of plastic breaks…my odds are the plastic latch mechanism likely first to go.
