Paranoia Agent (SteelBook) (Blu-ray) (English)

This is a mystery miniseries from the late, great Satoshi Kon. The man who directed the Horror-Thriller Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika & others. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll just describe it as a Psychological Thriller that links each story from episode to episode. It can easily be binge watched but it's also very gratifying to go back & to rewatch the series. You'll notice things upon the second viewing that you might have missed previously. This is a Great Series! I rarely give 5 stars to any of my reviews but in some cases such as this, an exception is made. I give this my Highest Possible Recomidation!

With the blu-ray release of Paranoia Agent, all of Satoshi Kon's major works are now in print. This is wild psychological thriller with compelling themes and terrific animation. Unfortunately, the blu-ray transfer is very poor. It feels like standard definition. As someone who owns the long out-of-print DVDs, there is very little difference between the new transfer and the old. However, if you don't already own a physical copy, the quality of the show carries itself, poor transfer aside. Paranoia Agent is a great experience, and one of my personal favourite anime series. Highly recommended.

We waited a long time for a US blu-ray release and it's finally here. Kon does not disappoint in the slightest. Paranoia Agent is edge-of-your-seat entertainment in its purest form.
