  • This is a good wired controller.

It looks amazing, it’s fast and comfortable.

  • Suits my purpose, but....

from Greater Vancouver Regional District on January 6, 2019

I own several gaming PCs, one of them is Windows 7 and the others are Windows 10. I do NOT own an Xbox, so if you're looking for feedback specifically about Xbox usage, this review is not for you. My son and I were interested in playing a particular Steam-based baseball game together that is virtually impossible to play with a keyboard/mouse. I purchased this controller in good faith, even though it had mixed reviews. My wife had other holiday returns to make at Best Buy, so I figured -- what the heck, if it doesn't work I'll just give it to her for her pile of returns. The first thing I did was try to get it going on my son's older Windows 7 PC. Not super old, but old enough to have a bunch of stuff on it that I keep saying I'll "get around to backing up" so we can upgrade to Windows 10. I COULD NOT GET THE CONTROLLER TO WORK ON WINDOWS 7. I followed several guides on Google for people claiming to have made it work... Maybe that's for the Xbox 360 controller?! I don't know. Anyway, if I had a whole day to spend trying to get it going, I MIGHT be able to... But after about 1.5hr I decided it wasn't worth continuing. Next, I tried it on a Windows 10 machine, WHICH WORKED GREAT! I plugged in the controller, and it recognized it immediately. I chose to reboot now rather than realizing 10 mins from now that Windows was all junked up and needs to reboot anyway (because Microsoft). When I loaded Steam after, the controller was recognized and ready to go. I've been playing the baseball game with my son ever since, no problems. Keeping in mind I've never played an actual Xbox or used an Xbox controller, I see no flaws in this controller. If I was a hardcore controller-based gamer who was used to "official" controllers, I might choose to go all-in and buy an "official" one, but for casual purpose I have absolutely no complaints.

  • Looks great and works great

The controller feels as good as a standard Xbox controller, and it works great with an Xbox One or PC (I regularly use it with both). It has a wide range of colours for the light, which is easy to change, and looks really cool. It is more affordable than most wireless controllers, and the chord is long enough that it will still reach far enough for most uses. Plus the chord makes it easy to switch between Xbox and PC. The only issue I've had is that it doesn't seem to be able to turn the Xbox One on. It works fine once the Xbox One is on, but I need to use my other controller to turn the Xbox One on (or the button on the console). It isn't a problem for me, but it might be for someone wanting to use it as their only Xbox One controller.
