- Game-Changer- March 30, 2018
I am fanatical about what hue bulbs have done for the idea of a smart home with little to no technical experience. I have purchased many of these bulbs and could not be happier with how reliable and well-connected they are. As long as you have a reliable wi-fi connection they perform as intended. Highly recommend pairing these with a motion sensor for the "night-light" feature or even just coming home from work. The colors are great and the effect they give you for get-togethers or themed parties is a game-changer. Tons of compliments. I use them with HomeKit and they work fantastic. I can't remember the last time I flipped a light switch!Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Excellent product- May 30, 2018
Philips hue are great smart lights, and very easy to control with the app. I can call on Siri to set the light colors, turn them on or off. There's so much you can do with these lights, and for me the greatest benefit is the ability to program routines, which I did for a natural wake up going through the early morning blueish tones, to orange and then white light. I used this in the winter mornings to offset the late sunrise, while having to wakeup around 6AM and it worked wonders for me. When the alarm sounded I was all rested and ready to get up, which wasn't the case when it was all dark due to the winter. This is an A++ purchase.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Cannot be used in floor lamp- December 12, 2017
I bought this to replace a halogen style light in a floor lamp but the bulb is too tall and shines over the top of the bowl of the lamp. I deducted one star for this. The other star was because the lumen output of the light was less than many other LEDs and as it is a 'flood' lamp I would have expected a lot more light coming from it, especially for the price. If you want recessed bulbs, this might be your only option, but otherwise the A19 line has improved much faster than these it would seem. Hopefully Phillips is in the lab working on a product refresh for these before I opt to replace all the recessed lights.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Great but expensive- January 6, 2019
These bulbs work great! I feel like they are a little pricey but if you're looking for this kinda bulb, you're probably already ready to spend the cash. The HUE bulbs work really well, but you must have a HUB to use them (which is sold separately). We have them throughout our home and the colors are great (NOTE: avoid pre-3rd GEN bulbs due to the available colors). I also have the LIFX bulbs and would say that the HUE system works slightly better (even with the inconvenience of having to have the HUB). This is mostly due to how many issues I have with the LIFX bulbs losing connection or not working properly with the home automation software I use in my home (Siri/Alexa).Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Good but not the best- July 24, 2020
The light isn't as bright as I was hoping it would go. There are a lot of colors to choose from on the app but sometimes the button to change colors or turn the light up and down in brightness gets finicky. I have had to reinstall this app more than 5 times in one month because it will sometimes not connect to the light properly. Another thing that bugged me was that the "routines" wake up would make me get right by the light and turn it on and off and back on every time I wanted to turn on a routine. So I'll be laying in bed about to turn on my routine for the morning and I would have to get up to do all this as well as sometimes having to reinstall cause it won't connect properly. No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
