I had this last September and got 7 channels but couldn't get CTV Station and Citytv is not stable and you meet to put this antenna near the window to work well.

  • from Edmonton, AB

With a home-made antenna, I was able to get a strong signal from 6 channels with no adjusting. So I was optimistic that a commercial amplified antenna would do better. No. This Philips model could pick up weak signal, 2 at a time depending on its positioning. I thought it was damaged so returned it, then read other comments. Tip: as a test, attach a coax cable to the antenna port. Touch the pin to a prong of a coiled up extension cord.

Okay antenna

In Port Moody 17 floor -facing North able to get 3 local channels a bit unstable..Will not keep (:

I just got this for birthday gifted and I try everything and it came good! Only 7 stations including CBC, CITYTV AND GLOBAL BUT couldn't get CTV. So, I give this a 3.

  • from saskatoon

doesn't work

Simply doesn't pull in any channels. I have to return it. Waste of fuel to drive it home and back.

  • from Edmonton, AB

Didn't work and needs power

Didn't get any channels and only live 20 minutes north of city.

Philips passive antenna works better.

  • from Toronto, ON

I have 2 channels without antenna and got zero with the antenna.

  • from Calgary

Works great if set up properly

In TV settings make sure cable is set to antenna, not cable. My TV actually called it "air" and you also have to scan your channels, as mentioned by other reviews. It was in same sub menu of TV settings as cable setting. Got 7 HD channels in Calgary and box is nowhere near a window.

  • from Mississauga, ON

works fine

11 channels, 10 is clear. Scan for channels air and cable

Taking it Back

Crap! Only 1 channel.

The antenna works on windows side only. Should not be rated as indoor. Even sits next to the window, only 3 channels received and unstable. Just 5 ft from the window, Nothing on the screen.,

Phillips indoor antenna amplified

This antenna is so much better than the old one I previously had. Well worth the money. I told my friend and daughter about this antenna and they both bought one and are very happy with the product.

  • from Halifax, NS

OK - I guess

I am not able to get reception in my basement with it, but did get two channels (CTV & CBC) on my bedroom TV, which is two more than I had last week. Occasional broken frequency but overall it does the trick.

  • from Dartmouth N S

so k

Only managed to get 2 channels but they're clear. 3 would have been better. Happy with my purchase.

  • from False Creek, Vancouver, BC

Free TV!!!

Without plugging into the wall outlet I got 2 channels. Once plugged in and turned on I was able to get 6 channels. To my surprise all are HD quality! The channels I have are: 2X CBC, 2X CTV, Global and one CBC french. Not sure what the difference is between the duplication, but during election night one of each was elections and the other were regular programming. CUT YOUR CABLE!!!

  • from Richmond, BC

Great purchase and so easy to use!

As another reviewer mentioned, scan your channels! I had no problems getting 11 channels within 5 minutes. Not much to choose from, but they're all free! Picture quality is great; much crisper and clearer than my HD cable box (I was quite surprised). This product reminds me of that chicken roaster commercial - "Set it and forget it!".

  • from Etobicoke

Works fine

I live in a basement in Etobicoke,On and I've picked up 8 channels with seven of them.

  • from Vancouver, BC

Worked OK

I was able to pick up six channels using this antenna, but unfortunately they were not the local ones I was hoping for, ie, CBC. This antenna picked up US Channels only, no Canadian. I did scan for channels regularly, ensured my blinds were not creating interference, scanned when it was both clear and stormy outside, etc. Still no additional or CDN channels. Whether this is because of my location in the city or because the antenna is not strong enough, I do not know. All I can attest to is that I was able to pick up some channels. Very clearly too.

  • from Ottawa, ON

scan your channels!

I believe that lots of the negative reviews for this and other antennas has to do with people not going into their setup menus to scan the channels.

Keep Looking

I bought this antenna, and there was almost no amplification, a regular rabbit ears works just the same if not better, I live in a builsing not sure if that was a problem, any ways, not worked for ME.

  • from Toronto, ON

The service rep recommended this to me. I live downtown in a condo, I was only able to pick up 3 channels, chch, ctv and some french channel, i couldnt even get cbc, global, etc. When I put the antenna outside on my balcony, it picked up one more channel but thats it. I returned it back the next day!

  • from Toronto

Does not work!

This antenna does not work! I plugged it into by HDTV and it could not get a single channel ... Surely in Toronto one can at least get the CBC. An old FM antenna picked up more stations than this antenna. Very sad.

  • from Winnipeg

Completely useless. No matter how much I played with the antenna or adjusted the signal knob, I couldn't get a single bar of reception. The port where the coaxial cable was so loose that the cable kept slipping out. Exchanging it ASAP.

  • from Toronto

Won't work

This antenna is not really working as expected or described. The quality is way lower. I live in downtown Toronto and can barely get 2 or 3 channels with this. Will return it to store.

  • from Montreal

not impressed

I hooked it up in my first floor living room to a HDTV converter box as a backup to my satellite system. Even though I am only about 30 km from downtown Montreal, I can only receive channels 2 and 6 with it, even though it is pointed directly at the transmission location. The antenna is very directional and needs to be pointed at the tv stations. It could not receive the other channels 10 and 12 in Montreal nor American stations that are 100 km away. There is a dial that needs to be turned on and which is used to adjust the amplification. The dial did not help much. I will be returning it and getting an outdoor HDTV antenna.
