health concern

when operating the oil splashes on to the heating element, and there is no way to clean off the oil. Next time you operate it, it then smokes a lot.

good but slightly hard to clean

Food comes out very good, but the bottom of the net is a bit hard to clean. One trick is spray it with my sink hose. preferably with a bit pressured water. soak the net in vinegar, breaks the food bits off. If you like cleaning, this is definitely not for you :)

Not Good!!!

Non-stick coating on bottom of the fry pan starting to bubble and tear off after 6 months! Scary for the possible poisonous material.

Knowledge IS Power

Too bad I did not read the reviews here before I bought it! Yes, really hard to clean. Air is the new oil for Philips and it really like air, oil goes everywhere in the unit. Mission impossible to clean it up! Smoke alarm rings every time it is used. It is like a steam train when frying chicken. Give up!!!

Most loved appliance in the kitchen

My wife wanted one of these for Christmas last year, and it had to be a Phillips Air Fryer. I admit I was pretty dubious at first...I thought it was 'gimicky', and I'm not the biggest fan of 'deep-frying' ! Was I ever wrong !! This thing is AMAZING !! Fish, chicken, pork roast, veggies, and yes fries come out perfect every time. Oven baked on the outside, but moist and fresh inside. Chicken is cooked all sitting in juice or grease ! Here's the other thing for us...we NEVER use ANY oil. The only time would be a little with home cut potatoe fries. Most of the negative points made in other reviews seem to revolve around smoking and difficult cleanup...due to oil. I suspect these folks are using too much oil. As I said, we never use it, and have never had a problem. Also, cookiing time is greatly reduced. For a couple, or small family, it is fabulous. For a big meal with a lot of people, you'd probably need to partner with an oven to keep food warm and air-fry the 2nd batch. We're getting another one for the cottage,

Very hard to clean

The output vent is at the back, not reachable nor cleanable. Oil accumulate there causing lots of bad smoke

Really Bad

Oil stick to hard to clean areas. After 3 months, food burned when smoke cannot get out from the back. Waste of money.

a great concept but lack of maintaining

Although I love the concept behind the Philip. I would not recommend this unit for the following reasons: 1. it's hard to clean the elements inside. 2. it triggers carbon monoxide every time I am using 3. the filter in the back it's locked. you can't clean it. overall, it's a good concept but no way to main the units.

Exahust gets stuck with oil

The design of exhaust at the back causes all the burnt oil accumulating at the back and cannot be cleaned. The unit gets very smoky after a few uses. The smell of burnt oil fills the kitchen in no time.

Bought it on sale instead of the manual model. The digital settings work really well as does the machine. Love the fries which I have done several times. Cooked salmon filets and they turned out perfect and nice and moist. Also used it to heat up some left over sausages, added them to the french fries for the last 6 minutes and they were hot and ready. Overall quite impressed with this Airfryer and the healthy benefits.

Most used appliance in my house

I find this unit to be absolutely amazing. The textures and crispyness it can create is just great. I picked this up almost 8 months ago now and have been using it every day since then. Very sturdy unit, no pieces falling off or have become loose and it is working really well still. It can do just about everything. I am vegetarian so i do a lot of veggies in it, everything from cauliflower, brocolli, Chicken (soy) nuggets, veggie burgers, to toast and even pizza at times. I have friends who use it for meats such as wings and stuff too and it turns out amazing if you know how to use it and just read up a little on recipes, timing and the right temperature instead of putting on 200 for everything you put in there. As for the cleaning - yes, when you use it on things that have oil and grease just like a BBQ it will pull all that grease out and push it to the bottom of the pan. I however always clean mine out after 3-5 uses of it and make sure there are no bits lying around in it. The stainless steel removable grill cleans off super easy no matter what is caked or burned on to it. The main pan mesh bottom is a little more challenging. That mesh is very fine and will get stained after using it but it is certainly cleanable if you use the right solutions and spend a bit of more time on it. I personally dont care about the color so long as the grill is clean. I soak it overnight in soap and then use the yellow side of the sponge to gently get out any bits still stuck. (DO NOT USE THE GREEN SIDE OF THE SPONGE ON THE MESH - you will have little bits of fiber suck in there for weeks). Overall - just a fantastic unit mostly because of the speed that it can do things with. Stuff like sweet potatoes that can take 45 mins to boil can be done in 20 mins if cut right. Note that if you want to do stuff like baked potatoes you have to look up the proper temperature and how to do it. Generally this is not for cooking larger objects that have hard centers as the heat would take a long time to get to the middle. But you can do it if you are ok to leave it for a bit longer. The only bad thing about this unit is the amount of counter space it takes up which i am sure is a premium for most people, especially those who prefer less clutter as it is heave to move in and out of a cabinet all the time. It dosent bother me much though as i just leave mine on the counter.

It is very smoky

Oil stick in inside of the fryer, cannot be cleaned. After a few times, all the old oil creates very smoky burnt bad smelling smoke. Triggers my smoke detector every time now.

Philips Air Fryer

I bought this about 2 months ago, and am very pleased with it, I had a T-Fal fryer before this and found it too flimsy, had to replace 3 different parts, the Philips fryer is a lot tougher, and it has cooked every thing that I have put into it just fine,

Good Product

It took me about a week to get to know and used to this product. Now we do fish, chicken and pork cutlets, all works fine. Please do not expect to come out as deep-fried dishes, they come close to it, however it is not a deep frier. Just think of different method of cooking, it is not deep fried, it is not pan fried, it is not oven is air fried. It is a good airfryer. My issue is the size. I live in an appartment, and not a lot of storage space, I decided to put it on top of stove, sacrificing left side of the stove, but then, I get to turn the vent fan on, when I use the airfryer. Product itself is huge but cooking space is not that big, it would be perfect for 2 people dishes, maybe, maybe 3 people, not for familiy of 6, unless you work it triple times.

Truly an amazing product...

Have owned this model for a few months, and I just love it, use it basically everyday. Done chicken, steaks, bacon, sausages, vegetables, and even baked brownies in it. All of them have turned out great. The recipe book is not good at all, but you just have to do a Google search and you will find tons of recipes, plus once you get use in using it, use your own imagination. Wouldn't say this is a product to use for a large family, but for single people, or couples, this is perfect.

Great product, easy to use, for the price it should have come with the accessories that are sold separately. Large appliance but does fit under the top cupboard to sit on the counter. Instructions are awful.
