- Best choice! I'm actually a Pioneer brand loyalist- July 16, 2017
Best choice! I'm actually a Pioneer brand loyalist when it comes to stereo, etc. Our old family stereo since I was in college way back in late 80s is still working! This turntable works so well in vinyls even in used ones. Can't hear much static sound, smooth, perfect speed. Style is classic, easy to operate. Though you still need to get a good speaker too to hear the best sound you like. It's vinyl, kinda old school so don't you forget that:))

Easily the best pitch-accurate fully-automatic home audio component turntable for the entry level price! The redbook quality sound reproduction is a given, and expected of the stylus used and the deck model itself, but having the pitch control for me is crucial to the listening experience. Basically, the Pioneer PL-990 comes from the same bones (and thus the same hi-fi sonic quality) of home-use component turntable models by Sony, Denon and Audio Technica which generally feature fully automatic cueing, tonearm return and shut off, pre-set tracking force and built-in phono pre-amp. The only difference with the PL-990 is the pitch control dial which is why I bought it. I cannot, do not and will not, trust turntables with pre-set pitch. Ever! So having pitch accuracy to go with the already high quality audio output makes for vinyl LP listening experience on par with CD.

Very easy to set-up. I used to own a direct drive 'Dual' brand turntable back in 1987 and at the time stroboscope belt-drive were considered a thing of the past (...) Fast forward to 2016 I love both the convenience and dependability of this belt driven with strobo speed regulator. I dare you find a better sound quality and a better deal for the money (this one was in sale for [price]). Fully satisfied.
