  • cheap garbage

Much like the other 1 star review here >> "Handle to tighten the top where the camera sits on broke after 3 months". The body of the tripod is strong enough, so it seems but the moveable tighten/loosen spots are cheap. Prior to the main handle stripping entirely, the centre ring (monopod) felt like it was going to strip at any moment. Unfortunately, I bought this quite a while ago where it sat in my closet unused. I recently started to use it and it broke on the 4th use. Surreal. Expensive garbage.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this tripod out of desperation a few years ago, as I needed something quick. I've used it regularly ever since. There's nothing fancy about it, but it's fairly sturdy and the locking clamps are well made. I mostly do video work, so I can't use it for much. But I leave it in the trunk of my car as a spare, and I often find myself packing it for location shoots or when I just need a simple tripod for a static camera. You can get some surprisingly smooth pans with the included head, but don't expect to do anything fancy with the tilt. I've never used the monopod function, but it seems handy enough. All in all, I'm impressed with this thing. Taken for what it is, it's actually kind of great.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

But, where can I buy a replacement mount plate? Mine fell out of the bag while on vacation and now the unit is useless :(

Ive had this tripod for about a year and a half and travelled with it quite extensively. Its pretty solid and worked with it storm chasing, aurora chasing and for general landscapes and hyperlapses. Im not going to lie Ive beaten the heck out of it and while I've had a couple of issues and a couple of new screw put it back to mint condition. Pros: - Solid (added a Joby ball head) - Solid finish Cons: - Small screws wiggle loose - Rubber feet come off in cold weather (-30 0r lower) - A little on the heavy side I replaced the stock connection screws with heavy duties and its solid, I also ended up screwing the rubber feet to the legs so there is no chance of them coming off. All in all, 5 stars for a budget tripod, you could look at manfrottos but be prepared to drop 500 bucks plus. Ive also modded it for intervalometer connections, its pretty easy to work with.

I recently purchased this tripod to be used with my T5i. It supports the weight of my camera no problem. It stands nice and tall for a good eye level shot. The horizontal movement is smooth and consistent. The quick release is also good feature. Recommended!
