  • Good Speaker but guard your grill
    Reviewed by Bill1 - January 16, 2017

I have one set of Atrium 5 speakers in a location where it not to hard to have the grill fall into the water and disappear when bumped. The first time I ordered a replacement grill the customer service sent me a free replacement cover, wow really nice. The second time I ordered a replacement grill in Nov 2016 it was $25, OK not a problem. This time when I went to order a replacement grill Jan 2017 $37.50, really. Is the question, "how much can we abuse the customers?" I own several sets of Polk Atrium 4's, 5's and 6's. I guess I am now done with Polk. Way to support your product and treat repeat customers.

  • Polk Atrium6 vs OSD ap650
Verified BuyerReviewed by BakerBoy - June 14, 2021

I installed a pair of Polk Atrium6 speakers on my dock and they sound great. I previously had a pair of OSD ap650's and just didn't like the way they sounded. They sounded good considering they're half the price of the Atrium6 but they really lack bass at any distance. They can handle bass input without distortion but they just don't project very much low frequency sound unless you're close to the speaker. The Polk Atrium6 however is very full sounding and balanced. I don't need to turn up the bass, in fact I now run the amp neutral with no added bass or treble input. Before purchasing the Polk's I seriously considered the Klipsch AW-650's but they seem large and heavy compared to the Polk's, which also seems to have more modern speaker technology. I already had Polk's in both my boats for a number of years and know they still sound great. Bottom line, the Polk Atrium6's are a little pricey at $400 a pair but you won't be disappointed in the sound quality and build.

Rating I should have reaziled i'd get what i paid for. these subs are rated for 500w a piece. I bought a high end infinity 1000w mono amp with built in fan at best buy to power these which should be more than adequate to power these subs. however, they hit like i've got them hooked to a 300w amp. these subs are POWER HOGS. i'm guessing it would at least 1500w to power them like normal subs but all the extra work and $ you would have to put in to make these perform correctly, you could get some higher end subs instead.

I got these to replace some Yamaha NS-AW350's outside. I got some great help from Polk tech support who answered by questions pre buy. The Atrium 6 met my needs and budget. The sound is much clearer, and the biggest improvement has been in the bass the Polk's provide over my previous speakers. These are outside wall mounted under the roof overhang for a 20x20 deck and are hooked up to a basic 100 per channel receiver. So far highs to lows sound good for a speaker this size. I looked a few other speakers in stores and online, but I found these at a great price and they were the best bang for the buck. Installation was easy, 2 screws per bracket and snap the speaker in place basically. The sound is easily heard over the whole deck. I look forward to enjoying these for a long time.
