  • Awesome once broken in

At first I was a little underwhelmed with these as I expected quite a bit from Polk. After a couple of weeks these thing are amazing at the regular price and a steal on sale. They are very good with a decent amp and you'll get a lot of mileage from these speakers for listening to music, watching movies or even sporting events on your surround sound. I have these as the front main speakers laying on their sides on a glass shelf below the TV on a TV stand and the sound is great with strong even projection and frequency response. If you already have a subwoofer you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend these and will be buying two more to replace my existing rear speakers

  • Decent entry-level bookshelves

Highs are very bright maybe even a little too bright. The mid's are weak and the lows are almost non-existent. The woofers are stiff and hardly have any excursion. Probably great for classical and jazz music but if you listen to other genre's which require lows then you will need a sub to fill in the void. 100 Watts RMS, you'll need a decent amp to push sound out of these. I have the RTIA1s and they are like 4-5 times better than these but also double-triple the price. Bottom-line, better than a sound bar but not good enough for a home theater setup unless you use them as rear speakers like me.

  • Give Them a Chance
    Reviewed by PCD - October 30, 2013

I recently purchased 4 of these as a bedroom set. They are paired with a 2 channel Sony receiver at 90 Watts per channel in to 8ohms. Initially they sounded terrible. Muddy, no bass, etc., but all new speakers need a break-in period and after 2 weeks they have improved dramatically. Very happy with them now. Now don't confuse these with audiophile type speakers, but for the money they are a very solid buy, but give them a chance to break-in, you wont believe they are the same speakers. The wall mount and rubber feet are a very welcome touch at this price point. Saved me running out and buying the hardware since I wanted them on the walls from the beginning. All in all, a good purchase.
