  • Pretty Good but Jury's Still Out

I set this up in my 1,400 sq. ft condo. The first router is installed in my office about the midpoint of the condo. The second router is in our den at the far end. The system replaces an ISP-provided router and 2 wifi extenders. Setup by the Android app was simple enough however, the app did crash a few times. Still, I was able to complete the setup and the crashes were only a minor inconvenience. Once the router is setup by the app, it can be accessed via a web browser. With my previous setup, I was able to get reasonable results by manually selecting the least crowded bands I wanted to use. That option is not possible with the Razer Portal. It is possible to combine or split the 2 bands. The router in the den works really well for us as it brings wifi and 4 lan ports very close to streaming and smart home devices. The router in my office is fine for my office but could be placed in a better spot so that the other side of the condo that depends on it gets a good signal but not 100%. Also, the router supports "fastlane" channels for the 5GHz band. When these are turned on, the signal is stronger and far superior. However, a number of my devices such as my Firestick 4K do not support these channels so they would be forced to connect with the 2.4 GHz band. I still need to test these devices to determine whether those devices would work well enough on the 2.4 GHZ band. For now, the fast lanes feature is turned off. If those devices prove to work well on the 2.4 GHz band, I will turn the feature on again and the system should fly. It would also work better if I could move the first router to another room but I need it to be close to my UPS and my VOIP ATA so my options are somewhat limited. Overall, I'm 75% satisfied but I have some work to do to determine if 100% satisfaction is possible. Should I succeed, I will revise my rating upward. Also, I bought this on sale. If I had to pay retail, I would probably opt for a 3 unit Google mesh system instead. The Razer Portal is limited to 2 units.

  • Increbile Upgrade from VIdeotron Wifi Router

Bought this on sale, reserve limited to 1 per household, arrive at store, and bought a second one. This mesh max out with two station, main and extender. Which is bummer. Never had a mesh before, but had extender before that. What a night and day!!! I never had experience this speed before. I run 500Mbit/s internet at home. All my tv boxes, tv, PC, phone max out their speed!!! I can't even reach this with my videotron wifi router. To login to web, you must enable it via the Android App. The best of this is its Speed, my home home is incredible upgraded.

Excellent product that embraces new technology. The Portal has fast speed and dynamic frequency switching, which is really something to be embraced. It blanketed my house with strong WiFi connection.
