Works well, software sometimes buggy

Does everything is says it does, well. Software/App sometimes buggy. Resists cold Canadian winters. Fairly easy to install and configure.

Very unreliable

The floodlight will not work if it is placed more than 5m away from the router. Mine was about 10m away. The phone is perfectly showing a good wifi reception still the floodlight will not pick up the router's signal. I had to buy a wifi extender that I had to place in the garage. The floodlight is less than 5m from the extender and still works very unreliable. When you want to see something is most probably will not able to see anything as the floodlight is just keep trying to connect. (I also have a ring doorbell that does not have as many problems.) Contacted Ring support and they eventually sent a Ring Pro Chime wifi extender. The floodlight never worked with it. Contacted Ring support again. Never got back to me. I would never buy this product again.

Still buggy

I was excited to try out the Ring floodlight after seeing some youtube vids in action but boy was I disappointed. Something is wrong with the sensors or their recognition algorithms because I keep getting motion notifications when there's nothing there. So much for setting on the lowest sensitivity and using motion zones! That means a waste of the light turning on and a lot of useless notifications going to my phone. I also found their app pretty basic and does not provide enough control over how it works. It was easy to setup, the lights are bright and it looks decent so I'll give it some marks for that. It had one job, detect motions and it fails at that.

Surprisingly Good!

I purchased this product mainly for the floodlight for the back of my house. I live in a lane house (behind other houses) so I needed a motion-detector light for the rear of my property. I get a lot of people walking down the lane - most think it's a public lane while some have other intentions (like drugs, etc). I am so glad that I purchased this unit with the security camera. Being able to see what is going on in my backyard in real-time is amazing. I get a notification through the app on my phone that there is motion detected and then it connects live so that I can see what is going on. It even allows you to speak through the unit so that you can communicate directly to the people you are viewing. The app records motion so that you can review all "answered motion" events on your phone. There is also a siren which you can activate in case of an emergency (which they warn is very loud). The video quality is excellent and the floodlight isn't blindly bright - just right. I highly recommend this product. I would give it 5-stars except that the motion detector is a bit slow to activate. I wish it were faster.

Not compatible with Windows 10 PC yet

This product is not compatible with Windows 10 for desktop yet when I bought it recently. Please check if it is compatible with your cellphone or others. Thanks.

Great product, missing Apple features and some choppy live video

This product can do with a couple quality of life improvements such as HomeKit compatibility and an AppleTV app so you can leave the live view on a screen or quickly check it while watching TV. Frequently I get alerts and by the time I've navigated to the app and it buffers the video, what ever triggered the alert has already passed by. I would recommend sending a snap shot of the motion trigger with the alert so you can instantly see what it is without even going into the app. These points aside, the lights are bright, the camera is good with wide field of view and the motion detection is excellent with prompt alerts. Video stutters in live view.

Awesome! Should be installed in every home!

I purchased this via pre-order and also when they offered a discount (no tax) on smart home products. Double discount; (23%) off! I convinced my friend to purchase one as well. Install was very easy as I did mine and his as well. Set up was easy. Clear picture, bright light, good 1-way audio, siren isn't as loud as I expected but for me, it's more of a cool feature rather than something I'd actually use. Realistically, if I ever needed to use the siren, it would be loud enough that it would scare the intruder or alert my neighbours anyway. One thing to note for some people who have this or even the doorbells. Tech support might not know this and I actually had to find this solution online via forums. If you are using a new phone, and cannot connect to the live feed (connection error), without wifi, you need to check your Access Point Network APN. Go to settings>mobile network>APN and make sure you are on IPV4 not IPV5 or even IPV4/IPV5. This will fix this problem and not affect your phone's connection. The only Con I have really is that I hate that you need to always keep the power switch on. You can only turn on the light via motion or via the app. It would be good if they could create/design a physical switch that could power the floodlight on/off but also had it's own physical light on/off button. But this isn't really a fault of the floodlight.

Ring Flood Light / Siren

As usual - a piece of beauty. Instructions are simplistic. The hardware / tools are are provided. Works great. Love my Ring products (have original doorbell for about 1.5 yrs now). 5 stars

Greater Product Bad Parts

The product itself works great but the install if a problem. Included screws were to big for mounting, the locks for the lights were to tight to release by hand, and the tool for mounting on the front scratches the coating. Ring ended up sending a replacement, but many issues still apply.

Love this unit

I already had a Ring Doorbell Pro. Bought two of these. One for the backyard and one for the side door. I would give 5 stars for this if it wasn't for the couple of issues I had. First, the backyard camera stopped working properly after a few days. The camera would just show black a lot of the time. Ring sent me out a replacement though and the new one has been back up for two days without an issue. I installed the side door one and couldn't get the camera to work. Called Ring and they said there was interference even though this is only like 15 feet from my router. They sent me out a Ring Chime Pro and said this would solve the problem. Funny thing is, the camera just started working and I have had no problems since. I have to say that I love these lights/cameras, even though obviously the installs weren't seamless. The camera has a great wide angle. I don't believe they are 1080p but are decent enough. The motion sensors are very good and the light comes on very bright.

Great Floodlight Cam

I per-ordered this on June 6 and was supposed to receive on June 16. There were some delays on the release by the manufacturer and my floodlight was shipped on June 27th. Not Bestbuy's fault. Floodlight cam was very easy to install and the instructions was very clear. Connecting it to my wireless router was simple. Just follow the steps from the ring app very careful or you will have issues. I did miss the step when it asked to connect to the wireless ring device at first try. PROS 1.Bright LED lights 2.Video quality is good 3.Night video quality was better than expected 4.Live view is a nice feature 5.Alarm is loud to alert neighbors 6.Motion detection zone setting CONS 1.Slight lag in live view (maybe 2 seconds). This is not too bad but thought people should know. 2.Delay in replaying live view (5-7mintues). I guess this is how long before it gets uploaded to the ring servers for playback. 3.Only get a 30 day trial for the video playback then it will cost a small fee. 4.Camera is noticeable on the white version. Overall I am very happy and excited about this buy. Hopefully they will have a update for their app for some improvements.
