First two days....

Replaced an Apple TV Gen2 that was constantly rebooting and buffering. Setup without providing a credit card worked well. Plugged it into one of the HDMI inputs of a Denon AV receiver. The ROKU premiere automatically (and correctly) chose 5.1 Audio as well as 1080P video for a 50inch SAMSUNG TV connected to the Denon. Audio and video quality with Netflix is superb, with no screen flashes, no freezes, and no buffering.

This is my first Roku and I'm disappointed. It was easy enough to set up and works fine for what I'm using it for (Netflix, Google Play Store, MLB and NHL) but I just have too many gripes with it. Number one is the remote that's included. It is extremely finicky, you have to point it with extreme accuracy directly at the box for it to work, there are a lot of missed button presses, and no volume or input buttons so no ability to register it with your tv. I had to go buy a universal remote, which works much better than the one Roku included and works with my tv. Why make me go out and spend an additional 20 bucks just to have a functional remote? If you are going to do something, do it right. The limited Canadian selection has been commented on a lot, but I knew that would be the case before I bought it. Roku can't be blamed for this, thank our cable and satellite companies that are clinging to a very dated but profitable way of doing things, and our absolutely toothless CRTC for allowing them to take advantage of the Canadian consumer. But hey this is Canada, we are used to getting the shaft and paying more for less. But Roku doesn't even have a CBC channel, I mean come on my tax dollars are paying for the CBC. We used to get it over the air, and it even works with Google Chromecast. Roku needs to get on this and help a Canadian out a bit, make a CBC channel happen. Lastly some of the channels, important channels, that are available are nearly non functional. They have Spotify for example, but the channel is so basic and stripped I can't even figure out how to access my library and playlists which is kind of the point to Spotify. It only gives you the option to search or browse new songs. The PlayStation Spotify app is fully functional and a breeze to use compared to this lame duck offering. Another example is the Sirius channel, which has a favorites folder for saving your favorite channel, but no way that I've found to actually save a channel to the folder. It just lacks so much of the functionality of the app on Android it can't even be considered a legitimate offering on Roku. Cut the cord and fight back against the refusal of cable and satellite to give Canadians what they want, but this probably isn't the device to do it with. Again this is my first and only Roku, but I am thoroughly unimpressed. I regret not getting an Android box or another Google Chromecast instead. I can't even recommend it to older people who struggle with technology, because of the frustrating remote that comes with it.

Solid unit

Picked this up yesterday after months of consideration to cut my cable. Easy to set up, actually provides a better picture than my HD cable box did. Dolby Digital + and higher formats are supported and work well. Only issue is a common one that hopefully gets fixed via updates. ~screen flash (like a lightning strike) once in a while. May have something to do with running HDMI through an audio source before going to TV (for us audio folks). Other than that, reliability is top notch!

Roku Premiere

Well, I had a problem setting up Roku. I was unable to set up on my 39in Flat Screen..720. So, I ended up buying a new TV, and Set up was a brezze. Just great

Good streamer

Bought Roku Premiere for Christmas. While it works fine, it occasionally freezes but it's acceptable. One annoying thing is related to Best Buy as much as Roku... the purchase in December 2016 included an offer for three free movies from CinemaNow app...good luck redeeming this. We have contacted, who state that this offer is up to Best Buy to provide; Best Buy say it's up to Roku... hmmm, sounds like false advertising to me. But Roku has opened a case to be reviewed by their management. Makes me laugh. Wow...

Second one

I now have two, and also have a Roku TV. We love these units. They are easy to set up and have a simple no fuss remote. Works great with Plex Media Server.

No Good

Was unable to connect to my Shaw router. Got error code 014.41. Contacted tech support at Roku and they said the unit had to be no more than 5' from the router. After I finished laughing I returned it and bought a Google Chromecast that took 2 minutes to get up and running.

So good I got another

This is my second Roku. I have had one for about 3 years. now I have one on both TV's. Very easy to set up, the interface is very intuitive. Pair it with a Plex media server on your PC and you will need nothing else!
