Great Picture, sound troubles (review after 9 months ownership)

PROS: Bought the unit end of November 2017. Easy set-up and light to install on the wall mount rack. I am impressed with the build quality. The picture quality is what I expected, excellent so far. WiFi works great and no trouble. The PS4 Pro works great on it. CONS: I had not seen that there were no component, and a/v composite inputs so I cannot connect my aux headphone on it. There is a glitch with the sound, every now and then there is a big electronic noise and all of a sudden the volume goes down a lot. We have to raise the volume to max to get the same volume we had before. I finally found a way to get the volume back by switching back and forward between two TV channels, but did not find the source of the trouble.

Amazing Picture

Fantastic TV. Picture Quality is outstanding. If you like a brighter picture with huge colour pop, the dynamic setting will give you this. However, if you like a less bright picture with more true blacks and higher contrast, the HDR option is very good. I don't think the QLED picture quality is as bright and sharp as the LG OLED TVS but you have to consider whether the significant price differential is worth it. I do see a significant picture quality upgrade vs. my standard 4K UHD Samsung LED TV (which I bought 2 years ago). I have tested on 4K content on Netflix (excellent picture) and on HD (very good as TV upscales to 4K "like" quality).

Zero Complaints

Picked this up 2 weeks ago to replace my old 32" Sony Bravia tv ( used as computer monitor ) and all I can say is WOW. The detail is amazing and set-up super fast and easy. Games stand out and it finally does the graphics justice. Have had zero issues with the tv and absolutely no regrets. The staff at St. Albert ( AB ) were fantastic and the TV was on sale at the time which made it even better.

Excellent TV

I bought this about 2 months ago and wow! This is a really, really good TV. I'm very impressed with the build quality and after adjusting the picture I'm impressed. What is unreal is 4K HDR. I did a search on YouTube for '4K HDR Samsung' and found videos that stagger the mind. Folks are even shooting 4K videos of aquariums, beaches in Hawaii, Mallorca Spain etc etc etc. Watching any of them is a real treat. Sound quality is excellent right out of the box with the amplifier setting turned on in the settings. Mind you, mine is in a Class A Motorhome with the large windshield behind it so I get very good sound from it. I watch 4K aquariums, beaches, travel videos etc as background video throughout the day. I wirelessly send the picture from my laptop to it, you name it - it does it. But 4K HDR from Youtube - that's where you really get to see just how great this TV is. If you haven't seen that, you haven't lived!

Great picture, terrible sound (review after 6 months ownership)

Bought the TV during a Black Friday sale. Writing this review 6 months into ownership. Picture is top notch. However, sound quality has declined significantly. Even with volume under 20 (max = 100) the speakers rattle like a cheap set of old ear buds. I am now seeking what I can do from a warranty standpoint. Be prepared to shell out some money for a sound bar.

Unbelieveable

I can't believe is this model got beautiful colorful and extreme sharp when I m watching. It s amazing and setup is very simple and easier. I like it very much. I just hooked up Playstation 4, Bell Express Satellite, Xbox One everything goes very well in one remote. instead individual remotes.. I love that perfect size, I don't need a big screen, and comfortable size. I can't think of any none of cons.

Buyers Beware: Defective Units!

Tv turns itself on several times in the middle of the night without anyone even near the remote. I called Samsung, did a factory reset and that didn't help. Unplugged all HDMI devices and that didn't help. Spend about 4 hours going through every single possible setting and nothing worked. Apparently its a common issue with this model and Samsung should be ashamed of themselves for knowingly producing such faulty products. Buyers beware!!

awesome fpr games

Bought this tv last week, setup was easy, and I love that the ports are separate from the tv, made my hook ups so much cleaner, but it was when playing on my PS4, it is so fast and the experience so much cleaner compared to my old tv, not nearly as many crashes when I am driving around my open world games,

Isn't working with TELUS TV

Mike and Jim seem to be having the same problem we're having: The TV flashes on and off when trying to watch TELUS TV. It seemed to be a problem on setup, but after switching out what we thought was a defective HDMI cable, it worked for about 3 and 1/2 weeks. Now, we can't watch TV at all using the TELUS box. We've switched all HDMIs, had TELUS come to the house and switch the box: Nothing worked. TELUS tells us it's the TV. Some say the problem is with using TELUS. Now we've been booked for a Samsung visit, and we were told by Samsung that someone was coming today. Today we were told by the repair depot that they have to 'order a part' first, so now they're coming Friday. We've had no TV for about 9 days. We have until Jan 7th to return it as we bought it on Black Friday. I'm a bit sad to think that our good deal wasn't so good after all. I think Best Buy needs to figure out what's going on here.

Fantastic Picture Quality

I have had this TV for close to a month now, and i have to say that I am blown away by it! Fantastic colour, smart TV capabilities, and it's easy to use. I bought this on Black Friday and got a great deal on it. I have the xbox one x, stream in 4k, and have had nothing but flawless picture. The only thing that bugs me happens to be the feet placement on the TV itself... Not an issue if you're going to wall mount, or if you're putting it on a large dresser or stand. All in all, it's a solid smart tv, and I would highly recommend it to all.

Excellent TV!

This TV is worth every penny! The reviews here are complete nonsense, yes the delivery was very poor with Purolator, they changed the delivery schedules multiple times and I had to personally go and pick it up from their warehouse, but it has nothing to do with this great TV. Make sure you do the calibration correctly then you will see the gem of a TV.

Exceptional Colours

My first 4k HDR TV and it looks amazing. The operating system (Tizen) is fast and the apps work great over my WiFi. After comparing a HD video vs 4k video vs 4k HDR on YouTube, I was instantly convinced that HDR makes a much bigger impact on me than 4K. The expanded colour palette with the intense brightness of the image really makes things pop. Also, no need to worry about burn in / image retention that plagues the OLED technology. Make sure you turn on the HDR capability on the HDMI ports that you are hooking up your gaming stuff to, or your Xbox/Playstation/4k Blu-Ray player will give you a warning saying that the TV is not HDR capable. HDR is turned off on all HDMI ports by default - you must manually enable each HDMI port individually through the TV's menu. I would purchase this TV again.

Delivery Service Sucks!

Haven't checked the TV yet. But the delivery service provided by Purolator gave me WORST shoppping experience ever! Tried to call the delivery company 6-7 times to arrange the delivery failed! To the point that I am not gonna buy anything from bestbuy if your company keep using Purolator as the delivery service!

Another defective TV

I wish I had read Jim from Victoria's review earlier. I had exactly the same problem: the TV randomly switches on and off. I wasted a considerable amount of time trying to find a solution. Samsung's support line was not helpful. The agent's only solution was that I unplug the TV and then plug it in again to restore factory defaults. He said if this didn't work it was probably a Telus problem. I was appalled at the lack of agent's knowledge and don't have much confidence in Samsung's support. I am also disturbed about the other comments about missing pixels.

Updated Review

I said before the build quality is much better than expected. Initially i had s problem setting up the HDR mode, which in this model is not where it is on all other samsung tvs (picture settings), but under input devices. everything worls fine now. its a good tv, but samsung probably plays some marketing games here anyway.

Underwhelming

Im underwhelmed at the moment. The build quality is much better than expected (reviews have stated otherwise). But as far as I can tell it‘s not real HDR, but untill i‘m not 100% sure this rating is temporary. I can’t get the PS4 pro to recognize the 4K HDR resolution, and there seems to be no „UDH Ultra“ setting in the tv‘s setting, only HDR+ which does nothing. If this turn out to be the case, the TV is falsely marketed and I‘m going to return it.

Dead pixel out of the box

The tv have more than one dead pixel out of the box, we took it back at BestBuy and took another one. Same problem, dead pixel on the tv. So, we took It back to BestBuy and we got no problem to have a refund. Samsung seem to have some problem with their quality control.

It's Good

This is a good TV for the price. The picture is beautiful as well as the design. The black levels aren't great but they are good enough, since this isn't an OLED. The picture degrades a bit when viewing from angles but it's not all that bad. Playing my Xbox One X on it with 4K HDR looks amazing! However when turning on game mode it will disable HDR. I can't tell a difference with input lag between game mode on or off, so I just leave it off. Auto Motion causes input lag as well so I just leave that off. I also run my PC on this TV and it looks fantastic. This TV is only 60hz though. Overall i'm happy with the purchase.

Great TV, however, the one I got is defective

Picked up the TV on Black Friday, was a little suspicious because there were no reviews on the TV. Unboxing and setup was easy.. the TV is beautiful and the user interface is very useful friendly. The remote is simply, easy, and sleek, without too many buttons. My TV is defective, as the TV will randomly turn on when it is off... for example it turns on in the middle of the night, which has scared my family a few times.

Great buy

Just picked this up Wednesday. Picture and sound are pretty crisp. Hooked up the Xbox One X to it and games look phenomenal. the TV's visuals were a little dark when first used, but after turning on the HDR setting things were looking bright. So far the only issue I have seen is with up scaling some tv shows from Netflix to UHD. When there is a ton of movement on screen it can get a little pixelated. Overall pretty happy with my purchase.
