Cheap usable tablet

It's a cheap tablet, no doubt about it, but it's a good cheap tablet that might fit your budget. A few things to be aware of before purchasing: - TouchWiz UI & Samsung Bloatware slows things down - Screen resolution is pretty low (1280x800) - The mono speaker on the back has pretty crummy sound - Expandable storage is great to have, but not everything can run off a microSD card. The 8gb of built-in storage on this tablet is VERY small and will fill up fast. - Does not support 5ghz Wifi, limiting your internet speeds - Does not support OpenGL 3, meaning it's very limited for any 3d gaming - Does not charge from your computers USB port. You need to use the provided adapter, which has a short cord. If these things don't bother you - then go for it! It's a good tablet for simple needs.

Video Playback Stuttering

Video playback on apps like Netflix, Youtube and Crunchyroll make this tablet little more than a paperweight. Coupled with input lag and a lack of 1080 options just save your money and buy something decent.

I regret buying this

It died completely after only seven months. It just stopped charging and wouldn't turn on. Samsung made it as difficult as possible to return it for repair. I had to call them several times just to get a shipping label, which they finally sent. It took 3 hours of alternately calling Samsung and calling Fedex before I could finally even schedule the courier to come pick it up. VERY frustrating. I'll definitely think twice before buying a Samsung ever again!

Good display but....

Bought and returned this tablet the next day. It has good display suitable for it's size but it since it did not recognize GHz Wifi connections, I had to return it. Most new Wifi modems are being sold in dual radio modes: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz . Other than that, I would recommend it.

Decent. Use able.

This tablet is decent for the price you are paying for it. It runs 5.1.1 Lollipop and it has lower end hardware with a pretty low pixel density display. I am however pretty happy with it for the basic stuff I do with it. It plays YouTube, it casts to my Chrome-casts, it lags a little bit but, seems pretty good otherwise. The touch sensitivity of the display could be a little better but, not as bad as previous Samsung 7" tablets I have used. The speaker fires out the back which a bit of a disappointment, and don't expect to take pictures with this thing. The camera and the app for the camera are mediocre at best. This isn't running new software by any means so, you really can't expect that much from it. If you are looking for a powerful tablet look at the larger sized ones. There seems to be more higher end devices on the market to choose from.

Netflix Video Stutter

I bought this tablet back in April 2016 and have had to send it in twice to correct a video stutter issue with Netflix and other video apps and players. I also purchased another one to test that had the same issue, so I returned it. Samsung keeps on blaming the firmware but they have not yet offered any updates. I'm trying to get them to allow me to swap it for a Tab A 8.0 as those seem to work. Do not buy this tablet if you want to use any video.

Worth the price!

I am enjoying this Samsung tablet. The battery seems to work much better than my Acer tablet. I do find the 7 inch very easy to handle as opposed to my sisters 10 inch Samsung tablet. The fact that this tablet had a storage capacity of 200 GB is also impressive.Well worth the price. I would give it a 5 star.

Surprisingly good tablet !

Got this tablet to run Kodi while travelling and it works perfectly. I didn't expect it to be this fast, but it runs the games and apps I've installed without issue. Limited storage isn't a big deal if you stream or use online storage; I clear background apps and memory regularly, easily done with the built in system wizard. Form factor is perfect for travel and I don't leave home without it. Money well spent!

Okay, but unable to find case

I like it, the speaker at the back is not suitable while watching YouTube and stuff, but the main draw was the fact that there was nobody selling cases and stuff. Even worse, when restarting/rebooting, it said Samsung Galaxy Tab A 6.0 ! Not 7.0, which really makes no sense.

tablet died

I loved my tablet initially - didn't use it for too much more than emailing.. just surfing the web and a couple mindless games... Unfortunately after a year (warranty was no more) it just died and I could not charge it... I am reluctant to purchase another Samsung...

Shame on you Samsung

I cannot believe today, after so many years tablets being on market, to have product that does not support smart cover. There is no proximity sensor, that will detect when case cover is over the screen. Also, tablet would not charge most of the times unless it is powered off... ?!?! Or only charges during ON when supplied power supply is used.... c'mon Samsung, you can do better. I needed something to replace ageing Nexus 7... but looks like still Nexus 7 is the best tablet if you need 7' display.

I agree with the other review by Derek

I had a Tab A 8" with 16GB which never disconnected itself for game, but my Note 5 does so I bought this Tab A 7" of 2016, and to my disappointment it really is not powerful enough for online games. From time to time it got disconnected while my Tab A 8" is still running without a problem. Therefore, I highly recommend people looking for a cheap decent tablet go for the 8" from last year. With nothing running else at a fresh start, its 1.5GB RAM is already 50% being used according to its Smart Manager app, and its 8GB storage 70% being used. I still keep this Tab A 7" because it is a good size (but I still prefer the 8" for reliability). 200GB capacity for the MicroSD is the largest so far for Samsung tablet this size. However, it will not do screen cast like other new Samsung smartphones or tablets, and Samsung Smart Switch may not work with some devices in this tablet. It does not have MS Office, but you can download that from Google Play. My conclusion is: Go for Tab A 8" with 16GB is a smarter choice if you only need one tablet.
