  • I'm Impressed

Picked up 2 of these. They are a tremendous product, especially when on sale. Another review complained about them having to use AC instead of USB... these are not portable drives like the 1 or 2 TB versions. In terms of speed, right now I'm transferring files at 170MB/s or a Gig every 6-7 seconds... that's about the fastest transfer speed I've achieved with a disk based HD. Also, no conflicts or drives not showing up issues when using 2 of the same make/model as I've encountered before, just plug and play ....

  • So far so good

VERY fast transfer speeds (120mb/s on average for large files, 50mb/s for smaller). Obviously a really large drive, so thats nice. Reliability is unknown as im only a little while in. If I have issues I will modify the rating, but for now it seems like a great value. I will be using this for deep storage. I have a couple smaller portable drives i used day to day. But for deep backups I will be using this. That way I have a place to ensure my files stay safe.

  • Lots of space, very slow access

The drive is an externally powered unit. The power supply has adapters for many countries which is a real bonus for people who move around the world. Contrary to another reviewer, the USB cable is a standard USB3.1 cable - the device side is thin and has a small notch to ensure proper alignment. The hard disk is big 6TB and slow. I'm accustomed to finding slow transfers on USB powered 2.5" disks, but the external desktop units are usually faster. My 6 year old WD and Seagate external drives perform significantly faster writes than this disk. I did not try to boot MacOS with the disk. The drive works with TimeMachine which was my original intent; however, the write/read speeds are so slow, if I ever had to recover from this drive, it would take forever. Now I use it for archival purposes. Pros: lots of space, great power supply and adapters Cons: slow
