I was looking for an external hard drive to add to my home network for backup of our computers. This appears to fit the bill. Had difficulty getting the computers to recognize the HD, but that likely had nothing to do with the HD. Plugged into USB 3.0 on a wireless router I set up as an access point connected via Ethernet cable. All seems to work well, though my backup program (Acronis) isn't always able to validate the backup.

I bought two in a post Christmas sale for $120 each. That is about $20/TB which cannot be beat for reliable storage of large files. The drives are not particularly fast. I'd be happier with an NAS but for backup storage (I bought two so as to mirror the backup) they cannot be beat. Probably a lot faster on USB 3. My system is limited to USB 2. One thing to watch out for on Windows is that duplicate disks can sometimes have the 'disk signature' rewritten to be identical which means that one is disabled. This happened to me when I accidentally connected both with the same 'drive letter'. Windows seems to think that they are 'clone drives' and that the signature of one got corrupted. Just a warning. Only happened once but it takes a LONG time to copy terabytes to restore the backup after re partitioning (to get a new signature).
