Really fast. Paired it with the Sabrent heat sink which is a replacement cover for the PS5 that acts as the heat sink also. Takes advantage of the fan to keep the ssd cool. On install it clocked the drive at 6557 MB/s but keep in mind that’s not a true benchmark of any drive and doesn’t apply to real world use or application. Made the choice to go with the firecuda not only for its superior read/write speeds but it boasts a long life span. Guess I’ll find that out in time. Piece of advice- load your favorite games onto the new ssd, anyone that surpasses 5500 MB/s, as the loading times will be improved, not by like the hugest amount but some.

  • Great drive but experienced a failure.

Super fast, but I did ran into an issue. I bought this to be the boot drive in my Lenovo Legion 7 laptop. Cloned my boot SSD in the laptop to this, swapped and everything ran perfectly... for 2 days. Then I couldn't boot anymore. Drive was wiped somehow. Had a backup clone of my system so I sent that to this drive again. Checked and there was a firmware upgrade so did that and it's been working fine since. For that issue, I deducted a star.

  • Quality memory.

Used said item on a PS5. Feeling confident that right now it is being throttled by sony or maybe just overkill for a PS5 system. 6500 is the ranked speed. I paired this with the sabrent rocket heatsink and it is a rock solid set up. No hiccups or issues. Memory is kept cool and runs smooth. Would recommend to all but it is possible that ps5 cannot handle the top end of this.

  • 6538.65 MB/s actual read speed posted on my PS5
    Verified BuyerReviewed by Bp3k - April 21, 2022

Dont count on getting the 7000 read speed thats on the box. I bought this because all of the old school HDDs I bought for previous gen consoles are either Seagate, Samsung, or western digital. Ive never had trouble with any of them. Fire Cuda 530 was just the last to drop 2nd choice was Samsung's 980 pro, only because YouTube reviews showed the WD Black ssd was a toasty boy

  • Great Ps5 upgrade, nearly 6500 mbps on install.
Verified BuyerReviewed by JinSakai - December 18, 2021

I’ve had this upgrade installed for about 24 hours. I placed it in a third-party heat sink that was simple enough upon formatting I got speeds around almost 6500 Mbps. It even arrived a day early and I recommend both Best Buy and the device to anyone looking to increase storage in a PS 5.
