Absolutely love this. Extremely easy to use and helped me organize everything. For anyone tired of USB sticks and smaller drives laying are this is worth the purchase

  • Excellent Drive for value but very slow.

So far I've bought 1 8 TB drive with Hub and 1 4 TB drive with Hub. Both have been very reliable the 8 TB is about 1 tear old and the 4 TB is about 2 years old. Although I've read a earlier review about not being able to use the Hubs for other ext.HD's I currently have all 4 available usb slots filled with external 3TB hard drives and have had Zero problems . The only thing I have noticed is that they do run about 10 degrees C higher temp than any of my other drives (I have no reason why but it hasn't been a problem , I'll soon be adding another 8TB . PS. Idid change the cables to speed it up and it seemed to help. They were cheap but well worth it from E-bay I think some other users may have had problems because they downloaded huge files all at once. I usually only download 100 -200 GB at one time. I like to give the drive time to cool down to avoid any issues

  • Purchased 2 and happy!

We purchased 2 of these units (Plus Hub 8TB). So far so good. We were worried as cooling is passive but so far have not had to take any special measures - we use the drives for storing server backups (we use AWS, and have our own backup servers but wanted a local 3rd level of redundancy). If necessary they could be put on a laptop cooler to help airflow but they have air venting on 2 sides and it seems to be fine. The USB ports are great. As these are powered backup drives the ports are powered and so we have other portable backup drives attached using the Seagate USB ports. You can even hook a headset up to the USB ports and it works fine with skype, tox, etc. We bought the 3 yr extended plan as generally drive failures are a notorious issue. We recently had 2 WD Golds (the top of the line enterprise drive) both fail within 6 months and the RMA got us only used remanufactured drives as replacements. So for static backup storage it will be these Seagates instead. Cheaper even with the warranty. BTW the Best Buy delivery was impressive. Got each next day after order by Canada Post.
