  • Full of features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As I get more and more into videography and vlogging I keep meaning to upgrade my microphone. I have been very happy with this so far! It fits in my Sony perfectly and the setup was simple. Even the audio controls seem intuitive and I’m not an expert. Best part of this has to be the flash recording. That is what makes this stand out from all the others. The ability to record the audio separately makes this an easy 5 stars and should be on everyone’s wish list. I like that it has its own power supply and doesn’t draw from the cameras battery. It uses AA, everyone with a camera bag has some of those in their bag!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While this may seem expensive for a shotgun mic its actually not when you consider the sound quality you get from this setup. Its super simple to set up and you can be on your way in quick time. It works so well in many different ways. One on one, run and gun, and even does well in crowds when doing a one on one recording. Overall im super impressed with thsi mic and im still learning all the features. If you do Youtube or anything like that then this is a must buy for your Mirrorless/DSLR

  • Okay...but
    Reviewed by TickledPink - May 18, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hoping this Shure LensHopper mic would improve the audio quality of videos taken with my DSLR. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. I am not an experienced videographer by any means. I haven't ever used video editing software. When I saw that this was able to record the audio separate from the video I felt a little out of my depth. Luckily there is a "passthrough" option that's sends the audio from the mic straight to the camera. I spent some time taking videos of family with and without the Shure LensHopper mic, and played them back to back on my computer. What I found was that the video clips using the LensHopper were louder, but the audio quality was not improved. I really don't know what I expected, but I was unimpressed. Perhaps if you're more into sound editing you'll get more use out of this than I will. Also, if louder is what you want (maybe this is indicative of its further reach?), then the Shure LensHopper might be for you.
