Sigma’s 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM large-aperture standard zoom lens covers a focal length from 17mm wide angle and offers a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, making it ideal for many types of photography especially portraiture and landscapes.

The OS, Sigma’s anti shake feature offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. HSM provides fast and quiet AF. Sigma’s own FLD glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite along with two glass mold and one hybrid aspherical lens, provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations. The Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. This lens boasts superior peripheral brightness and provides sharp, high contrast images even at the maximum apertures. With a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches throughout the entire zoom range and a magnification ratio of 1:5. When you need to stand ready for any photo opportunity you need a fast aperture so you can shoot in low existing light or at maximum range with a flash. This Sigma lens is perfect. With its compact size and light weight, it’s a necessary addition to your camera bag.

  • Excellent lens, great step up from kit lens
Verified BuyerReviewed by VideoProducerATL - November 24, 2017

I'm a full time video producer / still shooter, and I like to take stills and video on my Canon 7D mkii when I'm not shooting on big work cameras. This lens is excellent, sharp, fast, the image stabilization is a huge plus. Great all purpose lens for run & gun style shooting. The auto focus is loud when shooting video, but hopefully you're recording audio externally or manually focusing if you're trying to record sound off the camera's mic. Being able to not worry about variable aperture while punching in when filming video is great. Can't beat the price.

  • Great replacement for kit lens
Verified BuyerReviewed by Carly - April 3, 2016

I purchased the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 as a replacement for my kit lens. I did a lot of extensive research before this purchase. I was looking at Canon's version of this lens but decided not to purchase it because it was older, double the price, and had a lot of complaints of the image stabilization breaking after a few years. I really like using this lens, the fixed aperture makes it nice so when I zoom in and out I don't have to toggle with the settings. The picture quality is sharp too. I would recommend this to anyone looking to replace their kit lens, or for anyone looking for a decent fast zoom lens. For the price I paid for the Sigma, I could have purchased two of Canon's version. Also it comes in a nice case with a lens hood. :)

  • Lens that will stay on my camera
Verified BuyerReviewed by Sharkfin - January 30, 2017

I wanted to get away from using my kit lens because it is, in almost cases, an vastly inferior product to an after market lens. This is an incredible lens. Solidly built, good clarity, and the range of 17-50 is equivalent to 27mm-80mm on my Canon, providing me with a pretty good range at f/2.8 aperture. I liked this lens so much, I also bought one for my Sony. It is my go-to lens for every day use.
