Let me start by explaining my score of 4 on image quality. If I had the option I would give it a 4.8 rather than a perfect 5. When the aperture is wide open at f/1.4 images get 'creamy all over'. But with the right light this effect can be absolutely stunning! f/1.8 is quite sharp and f/2.0 and higher is sharp as a tack. A note to everyone: If you are looking for another lens and/or camera to expand your photography I HIGHLY suggest starting with a prime lens. Either 50mm or 85mm. Although you may not realize it at first a prime lens will teach you about aperture, composition, and where you need to stand to take the shot you want. Value is a given, this is an excellent piece of equipment and is Sigma's EX series of lenses. ('EX' on a Sigma is like seeing an 'L' on a Canon) This lens has a 9 blade aperture, making the out of focus elements of your photos very creamy. And the hypersonic focus motor is fast and accurate. Although I have had friends whom have said the focus hunts a bit with their 'Rebel' series camera my 60D has never had a problem. This lens is an absolute must have in my camera bag. I have had it for a year now and wouldn't trade it for any zoom lens you offered me.

I am blown away with the color and bokeh, can't afford the 50mm 1.2 and had the 50mm 1.4 .So far no issues with performance.Thank sigma for stepping up your game.Excellent piece of glass! The only issue is with the lens cap ,you really need to pay attention when installing the cap,if it is not put on securely it will fall off.

Compared to the Canon 50mm f1.4, this lens is far superior. The clean bokeh it gives out is worth more than it's costs, especially when you compare it against the Canon 50 1.4. This lens is worth the extra cost. It may not be comparable to a Canon L Prime lens, but the glass is superb.

Originally, I was scared to buy this because of the focus issues I read about online, I decided to buy it anyway to see if I got a good copy. Mine has a slight focus issue, but a little tweak/micro adjust and it works good now.
