I bought the Sony XBR55X900F from Best Buy in June 2018. It worked fine until January 17. On that day, a horizontal fine line appeared, about 4 inches from the bottom of the screen, extending from side to side. I reached out to Sony which asked for pictures of the TV and of the lines. Within a few days, Sony informed me that a replacement TV was to be delivered by a logistics company. The replacement model was the same; it was reconditioned and it comes with a 2-year warranty. So far, so good. When the logistics person came, he commented that he had been involved with the return of many Sony TVs. I didn’t think much of his comment – how likely does the lightning strike twice? A few days later, my wife is watching TV when suddenly several lines appear – horizontal and vertical. I gently rub the intersection of the lines, and a starburst appears. I recontact Sony and am being told from the pictures I sent that I had damaged the unit and therefore voided the warranty. They offered a 10% rebate on a new unit, but that was it. So I contact Best Buy, as I had bought an extended warranty. “No problem, we will send a Geek Squad staff on Tuesday to get the replacement process underway. End of Tuesday comes, no Geek Squad came. I call them, only to be informed that they advised by Sony that I had damaged the unit. So I go to the unit and gently (and I mean lightly) press the screen. A whole pane goes black. It’s going to recycling. Shameful. I now have nothing to gain to pretend that I did not damage the unit but I did NOT. This is maybe the 8th TV I have bought, an have never had an issue before. I bought a Samsung, as I still have a few of these who are working without any issue. Buyer beware.

Not bad if not for the dead pixels

Took 30 seconds to find the first dead pixel smack in the middle. Some lag during certain movies, if not a descent set. Pixel fix videos did not work. Not acceptable.

bought 55 inch sale price is good. 4k tv prices are getting better

wanted to buy 65inch but that didnt drop in price much. 55inch fine for now. picture quality of Sony is the best. upscaling is awesome. Android os is slow. 4k Tv prices are finally dropping

its SONY 900F premuim tv. finally price got better due to other brands lowering theirs. sony price for premuim 4k tv for 55inch were around 4 grand 3 years ago. Thanks to other brands LG and Samsung. this tv picture is good and upscaling is good. Android os is still buggy. processor is just dual core. will be solved next year with x1 ultimate in 900G very good price finally A++++++++

Amazing TV and Pic Quality but......

One word to describe the design and picture quality...... Beautiful! Only reason I did not give this a 5 is because of 3 things that drive me nuts with the TV 1. The Built in casting on this TV is not the same as a chromecast dongle. You get an app that has a guest mode and you try and chromecast? Forget it you cannot cast to the TV 2. The TV play store apps are limited and lame. The only streaming app available is the Bell Fibe TV. No Sportsnet, TSN, Global, CTV, etc. 3. Can't use the volume control for my expensive and beautiful Polk Sound bar. Why? It does not have HDMI arc and not buying a new sound bar. If those things don't bother you then this is an amazing TV. Only reason I put up with the above is the picture quality is really good!

Very happy

Very happy with this product. My only complaint would be with the shipping service. Please stop using Purolator - they are truly awful and wonder how they are still in business. I have other orders placed during the peak Black Friday period which got delivered by Canada Post while they were on strike before Purolator delivered my TV.

Great TV

So i've had this TV for over 12mo now and i can say that this is a great TV. Certainly at the start it is a little sluggish with menu commands, but got better and faster as time goes on. apparently it tries to learn the things you like to do. the Android OS is a great feature, especially as it open up a lot of applications that you can use that are useful. as far as picture quality, i went from a samsung TV before this, and loved it. and at the time was the best picture for the price. When i went into BB to purchase a TV, i compared TV's within the same price bracket, and in this price bracket Samsung failed miserably, the picture was dull and left lacking. Sony has done a great job with this, and honestly the picture is incredible, and detailed. vivid and bright. i have our TV in a bright space, and i can see the picture at anytime of day. the only reason its not a 5star is that the OS is a little sluggish, but otherwise fine!

55" Sony Bravia UHD HDR LED Android Smart TV

I bought my Sony TV back in early June. I absolutely love the picture quality and watching Bluray movies and playing Xbox are amazing. My only problem with the TV is when you turn it on and using external audio the TV starts the volume at Zero and you can turn up the volume but can't turn it down past the number it was turned at. Example: If you turned on the TV and the volume level is at 15 you can't lower the volume below that unless you do it manually. I still highly recommend this TV even with the audio hicup.

Wifi non fonctionnel, redémarrage automatique toutes les deux heures

La qualité de l'image est vraiment bonne et le design très agréable sauf que le Wifi built-in n'a jamais fonctionné même après avoir passé deux heures avec le support de Sony. Malgré tout je l'ai utilisé quelques jours et elle redémarrait automatiquement toutes les deux heures. L'OS Android n'est pas très avancé par rapport à Samsung par exemple. Je l'ai ramené et j'ai changé pour un modèle moins cher et plus efficace.

The Android OS and the networking the TV

Set up this TV in a relatively dark room and had to turn down the brightness. Picture is great, but really at 4K it is difficult to tell the difference of any 4K TV once past things like dead pixels or individual TV physical display problems. I bought this for the Android OS as I wanted to access an old QNAP media server on my network. Plus I also wanted the freedom of adding apps from the Google store. On both counts this TV was perfect. I had visions of using Android hacks to get to all my movies on the network media server but I clicked on "videos" in the menu and it showed my QNAP device and opened no problem. Movies played great. Could see other shared folders on other computers as well. The only complaint is some movie names were changed to serial numbers, but this is a common problem between Windows naming and Linux/android naming compatibility. Sony does not include a browser, which makes sense because like all Android TV boxes there are problems, so you need some technical ability if you really want to surf the web. I installed VEWD, the new name for Opera. It worked but suffers from a common Android box problem. It froze up when I went to a poorly programmed website that had multiple videos on its home page.While Android and Linux can run on almost no memory, Sony and others cheap out and NEVER give their devices enough. Also Android/linux is famous for memory cache "leaks" Some boxes include a clear cache button, not here. So likely after a while if you use a lot of different apps, it may slow down or even appear frozen. The solution to both is unplugging the TV, wait a minute, and plugging it back in. I haven't looked but there may be a "clear cache" app in the Store. Can't solve the lack of memory for poor video intense web pages. I had trouble with the bluetooth, but who doesn't on anything? I will add a portable bluetooth keyboard later, as well as setting up a VPN. I did try the Wifi, again, unless you really know about channels and throughput I would expect trouble, so I run wired, even though I understand wireless throughput. Bottom line, a lot of advantages for power users but I bought this to end the "how do I's" from my spouse. This one is dead easy for her to watch Netflix, Prime, read email and post to Facebook" Perfect for power users.

Don't waste your money

Despite all the great features this model offers, the picture on any content that is not 4K looks dreadful. I "upgraded" from a 10 year old 40" Samsung LED to this and it pales in comparison. Movement is blurred, colour is dull and grainy.

Great upgrade

I just replaced an older Samsung with this TV and the picture difference is night and day. Super bright and detailed on everything I watch. Easy to use as well!

Excellent TV

Got this TV a bout a week ago. Very happy with the purchase. Switched from a cheaper LG model and what a difference! Especially, with dark movie scenes, the picture is clear, shadows do not distract the details. Overall, the color representation is extremely good. 4K nature shows look amazing. HDR content is impressive too. FALD work pretty well putting this TV rather close to OLED models in terms of black depthness. You still see some slight halos around bright objects on a dark background but it is expected with the local dimming tech. The price is very reasonable especially considering some promos from BB. Comparative to other devices, it is a very well-priced TV. A couple of downsides: The Android OS is not the best in terms of performance. When multiple apps are open in background video gets sluggish and the interface becomes unresponsive. I'd expect something better from this level TV. Once you force the unused apps to close things get better. In terms of usability the OS is good, all you need is there. The corners of the screen get darker with bright and/or uniclour images. Apparently, it is a known issue with this kind of TV. Doesn't bother me too much but is is something to be aware of. In general, good choice for the people who like watching movies and TV shows, especially in 4K and HDR and expect excellent picture quality for reasonable money, and are not ready to spend a fortune on an OLED TV.

My tv won't connect to wifi. It gives an error every time. My other devices connect without any issues. I am not impressed. What is the point of having an android smart tv if it won't connect to the internet!

Back light keeps flashing

Worked for 2 weeks perfectly but then the back light started flickering. It makes you dizzy to watch. Returning immediately.

55" Sony Bravia UHD HDR LED Android Smart TV

I bought my TV 2 weeks ago from Best Buy and I absolutely love it! Its the best picture I've ever seen to date. I have 3 Sony Bravia TVs and they all work extremely well. I do not use the Android part because I have no need to but watching movies and playing video games this TV is as close to perfect as you can get. No draw backs for me so far.

Good TV if you had the same setup you did back in the 80s and 90s

I bought this because it has an android OS on it. Works great as a TV and android even though a little temperamental at times. Problems with the TV, yes Volume is a little sluggish. You press and all of a sudden you are lower or louder than you needed to be. Built in storage is very limited, but the worst part is I haven't been able to use a up the device storage to 128GB regardless of what Flash drive I used. I can use a 16GB flash drive as a device storage but not 64GB or 128GB. I can use the flash drives to store pictures and videos but not to install apps (you have to have them mounted as device storage to do so). The TV does format the drives but fails to mount them. Sony has been working on the issue and repeatedly kept on saying not all drives are supported. If you reboot the TV while the USB drive is in while still undetected you will have to hard reset the TV using the back power button. If you have this TV and were able to mount a larger storage than 64Gb as a device storage, let us know (Jun 2018). Sound is okay but could be better and louder but that is what you get with 20 watts speakers. Connecting to wireless is buggy. It fails to connect even when you have the proper password. You have to exit out and return for it to connect. Connecting via LAN is great but I find the TV is a little slow to connect back and obtain an IP. Sony has little or no documentation on the TV. So if you are looking for help, you have to be a little savvy. The best part of the TV is that it is an android TV. installing games and playing them, TV streaming is great. Not sure it is worth 2K though. If you are thinking you can use the Bell Fibe TV app on it, forget it, the only way to do so is if you had Bell Home internet. Remember, if you buy this TV, you are selling your soul to Sony and google. As an android user, I already have done so.

Better than all the rest!

If you want a new TV this should be the one. Excellent picture quality. Sound sucks but that is to be expected now a days. If you want a tv that does well at suiting all your viewing needs this is the one. A great balanced tv. Bright in a bright room and good contrast in a dark room. I am very pleased with my new tv. Thank you Best Buy. Getting it calibrated soon too :)

this tv is amazing you do have to change some picture settings when you switch from each type like movies or games but man the brightness of this tv is amazing !!!!!!!! the darks are amazing and gaming on it is so smooth and nice just even on a reg ps4

Disappointing! This tvs functions are messed up. When you go to the picture menu it actually changes the original colors of what you watching. Gray becomes green and other colors have a yellow cast. My first disappointment with Sony.

Fatal flaw

The TV picture is good but the OS is unforgivable. Even the volume keys on the remote are laggy. Still haven't figured out the bloated confusing menu.

Very bad

Went from the Samsung 6300 and the Q6 to this tv. The 900F beats those Samsungs in every aspect (especially dark scenes) except for a little less on the color gamut.
