Best TV yet!

The 900E is faster than the 800E more fluid. I love this serious, Sony is doing it right!

Upgraded from 1080P Bravia

I was stuck between this TV and the Samsung UN55MU8000 series TVs. All the reviews online rank the Sony higher in almost all the categories and they are right. The design and picture quality are superior. If you have a sunny room this is the TV for you as the glare is much less noticeable than its competitors. The sound is fine but a sound bar would help (as with all TV's in this category). I can't speak to the durability as I've only had it for a week now but so far the performance is incredible. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny

I upgraded from a 50" 4K Vizio (non-HDR) TV. I'm a big movie guy and gamer so I needed a multi-purpose set. From my research this is the best mid-range TV on the market and it is pretty close to the picture quality of much pricier OLED sets (and has no burn-in concerns). I actually had to talk myself into spending much more then several lesser brands/models (I.e. Samsung 7600) but I am so glad I did. Watching 4K content with HDR (via Netflix or via a UHD) is incredible. The clarify and colour on this (10-bit, 120Hz, Full Array Local Dimming) display is nothing short of spectacular. The UI is OK (nothing special) although I think an Android-user would appreciate it more then I do. The overall design is nice, it has a very thin bezel and I like the small footprint of the stand. The only negative is that it will never support Dolby Vision (a type of HDR) but I'm not concerned as a) Samsung & Sony support HDR10, meaning its not going anywhere and b) Dolby Vision is designed w/ 12-bit panels in mind, which currently do not exist for consumers. If you have the money the x930e is a little more future proof (as it supports Dolby Vision) but personally I would go with a 65" x900e over a 55" x930e. Bottom line - you will not regret purchasing this TV. If you're upgrading from a 1080p set you will be blown away - but do yourself a favour and also get a subscription or device to provide 4K (and most importantly - HDR) content (I.e. Netflix, Apple TV, Xbox One X, PS4 Pro). Enjoy!

Excellent Tv

Have this tv for a week and love it. Some people find it slow but for me it works very smooth and fast. You need to be a tech guy to know what apps you'll need in your tv and disable them. All what's inside you'll never need so make a research and disable what you don't need. As I said it works flawlessly for me. The only thing I dislike is YouTube which is full of ads and can't install any ad block. Now I cast my YouTube from my pc without any ads! So far so good. Good job Sony. Amazing quality and image. Best in it's class.

Awesome tv but the power brick..

So the tv itself? 5* for its sale price 1599 its a great tv in comparison to other tvs that are in the same price range. Benefits? If you were hoping to connect this to a PC, look no further. Has fantastic input lag (around 17ms) even with enhanced 4k and HDR enabled (so the 4:2:2). You can run 4k at 60fps (gfx card dependent) or 1080p at 120hz! (it shuts down a bunch of extra unnecessary features to pull it off so it runs at 'true' 120hz). With some calibration (either use bestbuy or follow rtings tips) the picture quality is stellar. I use game mode as it provides me great picture and the fast response time. Sound is okay, i highly recommend getting an amp with 4k passthrough and some speakers. THE ISSUE and this was a very STUPID design by Sony and it almost ruined the entire thing for me.....the power brick is HEAVY, like it's huge...the only part that can detach is the cable from the brick to the wall plug NOT cable from tv to the brick.....the issue? its tv is wall mounted I connected the power brick and its hanging in mid air and because its so damn heavy it tugs on the plug between the tv and the brick so the plug keeps falling out the tv. So I had to freaking tape the brick to the wall.....get a longer cable? NOPE...tried....Sony customer service who will tell you to call their parts department will tell you that there isn't one at the moment. So if you do get this sure you have an idea of what to do for the power cable, I estimate the cable from the brick to the tv is about...3ft (cannot be detached) and the cable from the brick to the outlet is about 1ft or less but this one can be detached and replaced---it's a laptop style two prong plug on both ends. The brick weighs probably 2-3lbs lol That's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Ordered the TV at the end of November. Came in the exact date Best Buy said it would. Not sure what the whining is about it coming in January? Sales associate steered me towards this TV and I couldn't be happier. Picture is fantastic and features work great. Very user friendly and easy to set up. No lag in any of the apps. Connects to Wi Fi like a breeze and makes everything look like 4K. Thanks Best Buy for recommending this TV and making me a customer for life. Please don't listen to the negative reviews and get this TV.

$1299.99 is the regular price

Not sure why best buy insists on this lame and misleading pricing idea.

Beware - Order or purchase in store (if available) if you want it anytime soon. Wait is 6 weeks

This review will be updated once we actually receive the TV to give our thoughts on the actual product. If you are ordering it online, it may CLAIM that it is available, but you won't be receiving it until mid-January at the earliest if you are having it shipped to your home (for reference we ordered it on November 27th, are paying for a scheduled delivery and live in an non-remote location, and we are not receiving it until January 11th and have already been charged for the item a full 6 weeks in advance). Save yourself the wait and order it from the store - you'll have to go in person though, since not one of the 6 locations in our city answers the main phoneline to provide you with any assistance. Additionally, if you ask for help through the 1-800 Best Buy phone number, they will tell you to call your local store for help trying to sort out a solution to the delay in delivery, while the local store will tell you they can't do anything to help.

Great TV untill micro LED arrives or OLEDS get better

Bought this TV during black friday, and it is great. To the people saying that the Android system is slow, you guys have very high expecations. It worked perfectly fine and no lag for the volume. The viewing angle was MUCH better than my ks8000. On that tv, if I layed down on the couch, the small change in viewing angle would reduce the colour. With this tv, I did not notice any colour shift untill I still about 30-40% away from the center. It is not glaringly bright, but I like that. I dont see the obession with bright TV's. 1000nits is enough. Dobly vision wants 4000nits?! No thanks. I like having eyes that are not burned.

Amazing picture!

Just did a recent upgrade and I must say I'm very impressed with this tv. Sports, movies, and 4K gaming look amazing on this set. No streaming issues whatsoever with Netflix, and even just on 1080p, this tv looks much better than average. Definitely happy with this purchase.

Amazing TV

Just picked one of these up on the weekend, such an amazing TV works well with my Xbox One X, Netflix and the Android TV OS is fairly smooth.

  • from toronto, ON

This TV was so beautiful, our first 4K TV. One day we came home to it being cracked internally. 10 days after our 30 day return period. Sony will not help at all as it falls under "physical damage". Even though we had an alibi, receipts and full accounting of no one home when this had occured, they will not even lift a finger! I would never wish this type of drama on my worst enemy. Sony is a PAIN to deal with, and wont even bother to send someone. Research thermal cracking people!!!!! Your wallet will thank you!

Great TV picture, Horrible OS

The TV looks great, no question. The OS is unforgivable though. Volume up and down is laggy. I just can't believe an important thing like volume is laggy. Had to go buy a sound bar, the volume problem was so frustrating. I could not set up my shaw bluesky remote to be controlled by the Sony remote, even though they advertise this as a feature. I still have not figured out the bloated confusing menus of the TV.

Sony 55 x900

You need a high end video card in order to push high end games on this TV.'s true 4k ...the computer makes games unbelievable.'s all in the video card...or you might get some lag from gaving an under powered video card

  • from Montréal, QC

Great picture quality, horribly OS

Yes the TV looks fantastic, especially when playing PS4 Pro enhanced games. But the OS is a horribly bloated piece of software. You will have to disable a bunch of services and applications to clean up the home screen. Then Netflix keeps hard crashing and network connection keeps dropping even when wired. Even pressing volume up and down is laggy and unresponsive, can you imagine?

Awesome Set

Don't know what the other guys are saying but this 4k set is fantastic. Blacks are deep and contrast makes the HDR colour gamut really pop. Android TV OS is pretty good as well and gives access to all the apps in the Google store. Currently have an Xbox One S connected and the picture quality for gaming and 4K content is amazing. Definitely one of the best TV's of 2017.

  • from Bolton, ON

Awesome TV

Don't know what the other guys are saying but this tv is amazing. The contrast and black levels are superb and the Android TV OS is awesome, basically gives you access to all the apps in the Google store. This set has the best picture quality and colour I've ever seen on a tv that wasn't an OLED. It's a highly rated panel and well worth the money if you understand the specifications of what your getting.

  • from Ajax, ON

Picture is Excellent but the ANDROID feature is completely useless! Useless channels and features.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great for media..

This TV is absolutely amazing for viewing movies or TV shows, unfortunately the lag is too much when trying to play responsive games such as forza, dirt 4 and even fifa! I would not recommend this if you're intending to play anything in these genres.

HDR at it's finest

I picked up this TV after reading a lot of competitor reviews and discussing the best TV with the Best Buy employees. I have to say I'm very impressed! Sony's really outdone themselves with this quantum dot TV with full array local dimming. Compared to a lot of competitor models with claimed features that get disproved, Sony has actually delivered a true HDR capable TV. The Sony truly shines when I'm watching content and the local dimming engine is able to push brightness to the right areas of the screen. The colors are so lifelike and have a subtle touch of film tonality that I haven't been able to find on any other brand.

sony x900e

the best tv for high end pc gaming......this tv is so bright and clear you need has light through out the whole screen while Samsung mu8000 just has it along the edge......killer tv

  • from Bowmanville

Amazing tv. 4k upscaling is equivalent to 4k service on Rogers. I upgraded to Rogers 4k but Blue Jays games were just as high quality without 4k premium cable.

Image retention

This tv has image retention (burn in) which plasma tvs had. Very weird for an LED Tv

Sony 900E

The best Tv I've owned so far! I've had the samsung 8000 also, but, the sony has an overall better picture especially the 4K. It took a few days for the colours to come out and shine at there fullest. My wife and i love sports and this tv gives us the best seats in the house.
