Its alright..

This is my first step into the future with a 4k TV. I was advised that Sony made one of the better TVs out there so I ultimately settled on this unit due to price, quality and features. I am very impressed with the picture. It's clear and does and amazing job of making older pictures look new and up to date with the upscale feature. I am however extremely disappointed with the desktop and apps. It seems to be difficult adding apps. One of my main purposes to purchase a current screen was to take advantage of Netflix. I am more than ticked off with this, 90% of the time I go to use Netflix but its not working or having a problem loading the movie lists. This is so annoying that I feel I want to return this TV because it can't do what I want it to do. Overall if you want a TV that looks amazing but only works half the time, this is the screen for you.

Tons of technical issues and limited Android capabilities...but superb picture quality

I purchased this during Christmas. So far, the picture quality is superb for the price range. However, the Android capabilities are very limited and frustrating. You would think Sony would have a web browser app, but this model does not have one. I also experience constant technical issues from the voice command, loading apps problems (lots of freezing and delays), and tons of network issues (including internet disconnection and issue connecting with my devices such as my pc). I dont know how other brands are, but i heard they have better android capabilities. If you care about this, do not get Sony. But if you Ok with ONLY great picture quality, then this TV is ok for you, but I would recommend you to do more research. Dont make my mistake, I will never buy Sony again.

Hated it

If Sony would only learn and fix their android OS. I can't stand it. Nothing but problems!

Overall good tv

Bought this about 2 months ago. Overall picture quality is good. 4K HDR movies look great, video games look great. The main problem I have with this tv is LIGHT BLEED. I know this is a common problem with large edge lit LED tvs. In a dark room, there is strong light bleed out of the bottom corners. (especially the right corner). The problem is especially noticeable in letterbox movies. I have brightness set to 5 to help minimize this the light bleed, however. With HDR content the problem gets even worse, as HDR puts brightness to 100% . Turning on ADV. Contrast enhancer and setting it to low helps as it enables frame dimming I believe (and the "low" setting doesn't screw with the picture too much), but it's not a setting I would have used if I didn't need to. Overall it's a great tv, for anything other than a very dark room. I even like the smart tv aspect of it. I installed KODI and it works great. I just wish the light bleed issue wasn't so bad, as it pretty much ruins the dark room viewing experience.

Fantastic TV!

The picture quality on this TV is second to none. Vivid colours, sharp images and very smooth action on this set. HDR movies are outstanding. The remote control is a little unimpressive, but does everything perfect. The upscaling from SD or HD to 4K is really good, Sony really does this well. I highly recommend this TV, I couldn't be happier!

Fantastic TV

Couldn’t be happier, the colours on this set are very crisp. 4K HDR picture is outstanding! Upscaling processor works great, HD & SD channels look fantastic. I highly recommend this TV.

Great TV

Just upgraded our approx 8 year old Samsung 55 to this Sony. After a week I can say that thisTV is great. No problems and the picture is fantastic. The built in Android TV is a real nice feature, We use it all the time. The display is definitely a lot nicer than the old sammy. I wasn't sure it would be that much better, but it is. Haven't tried the sound as we use a sound bar anyways.

Can't beat Sony

Bought this TV after our LG TV started to get lines on the screen. The quality of this TV will blow your mind. We have family members who own other 4K TV brands and this totally beats them by a long shot. Another bonus is the Android TV preinstalled, it almost goes what your smartphone can do. Sony is such an underrated brand nowadays.

Great for gaming, but for the rest not so much...

Playing PS4 pro on it, the graphics are great, motion lag is low and everything is smooth. Watching netflix or youtube, I found that the image was not as great, and some weird motion blur occurred through most of my netflix episodes. I played around with the settings, HDR on or off, Interpolation i think it is called ( off ) did not do much. Overall, the TV is great ( both the TV itself and the screen for games) but not so much for the rest I have tried. Maybe it is just me. I think if you have the money, go for the X900e, I might do just that. Overall I would give it a 3.5, because it does some things well... but since it is not possible, a 3 it is.

Awesome TV

I love this tv. I upgraded from an outdated LG 50" plasma which only had 720p. The LG was reliable and good at what it did, but there is just no comparison. The colors, contrast and the motionflow are unreal on the Sony. I love it. I feel like Ive stepped out of the stone age with this tv. Highly recommend.

Perfect everything

I couldn't be happier with this tv!! The picture quality after collaboration (google search it) is out of this world. My HD shaw tv channels are really clear, the 4k dvd picture is out of this world, Netflix is great especially the 4k netflix! Where has this been my entire life?! Sound is obviously lame.. but you should use a sound bar with any tv now a days anyways. 10/10 would buy again!

Verry Happy

Great picture, solid black blacks, great fast motion display, (I watch a lot of hockey) cast content from tablets, phones, computers, bluetooth headphones work great. We've had this tv for a month now, no complaints. It surprised us, we played a music app on our tablet, and it turned on the tv and cast to it with our home stereo as the speakers. If I want to watch content, I can surf on my laptop, and cast it. Optik tv and this Sony look great with upscaled HD and I'm set for my 4k subscription.

Worst TV ever!!

I bought 2 sets of this model. One for my mom and one for myself. I used mine for about a month and the built-in chromecast stopped working. So I contacted the technical department to troubleshoot. While troubleshooting, it lost it's power.. The TV just went black. We could not find the solution so they sent a technician in about a week.. He came and replaced the motherboard (or powerboard, I think that's what they called it) and found out the backlight was defective. Then it took another week to see if they can repair the TV or just replace it. So they promised to deliver the replacement and I am still waiting for the TV. It has been more than a month without the TV. So I asked by email for some kind of compensation because I just wasted the entertainment expenses (cable and internet). I just got simply ignored and got an email saying the TV is on it's way. That email was a week ago. Now the TV for my mom is turning itself on every now and then and wakes her up in the middle of the night. Can't have 2 brand new TVs and have problems.. Or just bad luck? I have used Sony Bravia LCD TV more than 10 years and had no problem. I think Sony's known quality has been dramatically decreased within last few years. I hope I made some of you make better decision. Worst TV buying experience ever.

Good Television

this tv has a great picture for stunning clarity and brightness. one fault I found was with the stand. it is a little soft and the tv leaned back about an inch or so. I had to place something under the back part of stand to level it out and the motion is sometimes blurry but I am sure I will find the correct tweaks in the settings to offset this once I am more familiar with it. overall a great tv.

best for the money

I have the XBR65X850D series which is exactly the same as the new 850D, i wanted for 8 hours outside the bestbuy store on boxing day in freezing rain to get it as its amazing in every aspect. Best feature? download KODI directly onto the tv! no need for the android box.

Great Features

This TV has great picture, fair sound. The built in android box is a nice touch. the picture is great even when watching old Black and white shows. The picture is lifelike and watching hockey is amazing. Upgraded from a 50' Plazma which was a great tv but this blows it away.
