Have been using this for about a month. Camera works great, is easy to use, and takes fantastic movies and photos

  • It does what it needs to do

I find this camera is the best, cheaper option. Bought it for 345$ with tax and the following week, it went to 230$ with tax so I got have about 115$ from Best Buy which was a plus. But camera wise, it does what it needs to do and the quality is good. Maximum is 64gb micro sd which gives about 6h36 minutes. The date and time is only visible, when you connect the camcorder directly to the tv for playback. I asked Sony and they said none of their models, will show the date and time once transferred to your desired saving place. Example, flash drive or dvd won’t show the date and time. Sony told me that I would have to download software to have that shown. Sucks. I prefer the 90’s cams. For me, the date and time IS a big deal but whatever. This cam is good for now and when ready, I will find a 4K camera with all features that I want. But yes, this is a good start up camera. Family videos etc. it’s 1080p. Only Complaint, you can hear constant noise coming from it’s speaker. Another review said that as well and I can confirm it. However, it does not interfere with recording in videos.

I returned to Best Buy because I couldn't figure out how to download videos from the camera to my computer. Ultimately I figured it out myself (my bad, I'm old and not very tech savvy). I was told by three different blue-shirted Best Buy employees that I had to buy a separate memory card reader if I didn't have one on my computer. I was told that a lot of companies, Sony included, were no longer providing cables to allow downloading of files between the camera and the computer so I ended up buying a memory card reader that I didn't need. Now I have to make another trip back to return it. If staff have no idea what they are talking about they should tell you that they have no idea, or perhaps take the time necessary to open a box or look up the manual online. Isn't that what they are there for? None of the three of them could have cared less about my question. They were far more interested in having a conversation between themselves. The camera is pretty good. It's not expensive and you get the quality you pay for. It's adequate for home movies etc.
