Sony XB12 EXTRA BASS Waterproof Bluetooth Wireless Speaker - Blue

I got a couple of these, one for my daughter and one to replace a JBL Bluetooth Speaker that finally wouldn't charge after many years of faithful service. After three weeks of regular use I'd say the battery life is really good, as is the ability to link two together. The sound quality is okay, but it's not great. I loved how deep and powerful my old JBL was and this fell short by comparison. It's not bad, just a little disappointing by comparison. It's easy to set up and being waterproof is a great feature around the pool and shower. But, if you like deep base, you might be a little disappointed. For the money, and being a Sony, I expected more.

Really surprised at the positive reviews. The sound is very crisp and clear but quite low in terms of volume. At volumes loud enough for the speaker to be heard (just) a few feet away, the sound is so bright that it's a bit tiring after just an hour or so. No bass to speak of. Even at the sale price ($35), I don't think it's a particularly good deal. I def wouldn't pay full price for it. I'm going to return it, but the return instructions state that the product must be returned w/ a "power cable" and an "AC adapter," otherwise money will be subtracted. The thing is that the speaker ONLY comes with a USB cable. Bizarre.

PROS: I loved this speaker when I first bought it, it's surprisingly loud and it's amazing that it's waterproof/sandproof (great for the beach!). It's so small and perfect for traveling. CONS: It has this terribly annoying feature where the volume suddenly turns down to about 30% when the battery is low. Wasn't a huge deal at first because I could just keep it charged and avoid the problem, but the "16 hour battery life" quickly dwindled and dwindled. Now I can listen at full volume for about 30 minutes before it drops, making the speaker useless. I can't even hear it in the shower, where I should have maximum acoustics. The water is louder than the speaker!
