  • Solid Dashcam - Pros + Cons in Review

While it's the only dashcam I've ever had, I love it and would highly recommend. After one-year of use, it saved me when a cyclist plowed into me; w/o the footage, I would have been at-fault. A few observations about set-up and operation: - take the time to understand the settings (i.e. modes, sensitivity, etc.). Some settings can be programmed through the SD card and others must be completed through the cam. - I took my time with the set-up and it was a good hour. But that was because a) I took time to route the wiring and keep it hidden; and b) I confirmed the cam location and view was perfect. NOTE: Once you place the adhesive on the window,it's stuck real good!! After this, it was essentially 'plug and play' - super easy! PRO's: - easy and relatively quick set-up; - high-res quality; - small and compact - most passengers don't even notice the cam is there and I barely see it; - good range of settings; - adhesive mount vs. suction cup style: I like this because the adhesive stays in place year-round and DOESN'T fall off the window as a result of seasonal and temperature changes CON's (which are very minor) - Viewing the footage requires removal of the SD card, but the box includes a thumb drive with SD adapter to make viewing easy (alternative option was to get wifi version, but you sacrifice features) - when removing the cam from the mount, it only slides out one direction. So if you're not mindful of the clearance required before the unit hits the rear-view mirror, it's a bit frustrating. That said, once the unit is in place, you almost never remove it. So take the time to know these things before placing the adhesive on the window.
