- THE Contemporary Western- April 8, 2019
Granted, there was some poetic license in this retelling of the OK Corral/Earp saga, but when levied against the final product, it's freedom well utilized. A grand cast, spot on performances, great cinematography, and an air of confidence that just isn't found in today's "cookie cutter" productions. All here went onto great careers, but I can't recall any performances as inspired as these. Over 25 years since release, this remains one of my favorite films, one look and you'll be sold also........... Highly RecommendedYes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Not Entirely Historically Accurate, But Still Good- September 18, 2008
For a western that comes between the original era of westerns with the likes of John Wayne, and Clint Eastwood and...making cowboy movies based on Samurai movies originally done by Akria Kurosawa; and this new attempt at a resurgence, Tombstone was a pretty good western, and pretty good as a movie in general. It's almost completely inaccurate, aside from people's names a few storylines and the shootout at the O.K. Corral, but it's still good. Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday got most of the good lines and pretty much just owned the movie. Kurt Russell was good, but he's better in John Carpenter movies. Overall though the entire cast was pretty good at playing their roles. It's not exactly Shakespearean or even equal to some of the earlier wetserns, but for it's time it's one of the best of it's kind and it's worth it for the characters and just being an enjoyable ride.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
- Best western ever- September 20, 2017
I have watched this movie many, many times on tv. The acting is above average. My attention was held from beginning to end with this movie. Tombstone is a better than average western. To me it is the GONE WITH THE WIND western, it is ageless.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
