As advertised

Shipping went well and it arrived quickly. Set-up was easy and so far (3 weeks) it has been working well. An easy solution to my multi-computer problem.

Recommended for Windows Computers Only

This KVM switch seems to be very well made, and it was easy to set up. There are a couple of issues that may cause concern. Firstly, the Hot Key feature (scroll lock - scroll lock typed quickly in succession) is supposed to automatically switch to the next device. This only works if the computers you are controlling are Windows based. Why the switch itself has to send the key sequence across to the remote computer, and then have that computer bounce it back to the KVM in order to switch is beyond me - but that is the way it works according to Tech Support. I am using the KVM to control three linux boxes, so the hot key does not work for me. The buttons on the top of the unit switch devices nicely, but i have to get up and go over to the switch in order to change computers (due to where everything is located in my office). It works, but it is a pain. The second issue resolves around TrendNET's technical support - they are SLOW. Expect tickets to sit for 2-3 BUSINESS days before they answer. If you have to get into a back and forth explaining things, it will take a LONG time. The last issue related to their special switching software that was supposed to work on Mac OSX as well as Windows. According to their tech support, it doesn't work on OSX and they don't really care. Of course, Best Buy's shipping and delivery went very well. I was very pleased with that part of the purchase. Overall, would I purchase another TrendNET KVM? Probably not. I would likely try another vendor. That said, i will continue to use the one i have, so it is certainly functional. Would I purchase from Best Buy? Most definitely. p.s. If i was annoyed with the device, why didn't I return it? the back and forth with TrendNet tech support took over a week, and by that time i had stupidly tossed the packing and everything. the device works - it is just annoying to have to use the physical switches on the top.
